Braves Acquire Young and Drew from Arizona

Is Martin Prado the next to go?

New Braves GM Brian Krich put his first real stamp on the roster today when he sent Braves top prospect 1B Freddie Freeman and journeyman IF Julio Lugo to the Arizona Diamondbacks for OF Chris Young and SS Stephen Drew.

This trade is a bit of a rarity for Krich as he has not been known as a wheeler dealer type in his past stints. He also had long made it known that he was not a Freddie Freeman fan, and also that he wanted to get younger at shortstop and more versatile and athletic in the OF.

This move also raises a question as to what the Braves future plans are for OF Martin Prado (currently on 15 day DL) and SS Alex Gonzalez. Prado has gotten off to a slow start and has now had two trips to the DL. He's also not the type of OF that Krich typically pursues. It's possible the Braves will next try to move Gonzalez and or Prado for a first basemen as that's another position that the Braves consider themselves deficient at.
