Madden 10 vs. NFL 2K5 Pre-Release

As of right now I have to congratulate Ian and the boyz on what seems to be a great game. However, as far as them passing NFL 2K5, I will have to play the finished product because I do not have enough evidence from the demos and videos. Here are the areas that I do believe M10 has beaten 2K5 at finally:

Graphics.......(crickets)

Yes that is the only area where they have beaten 2K5. Is Maddens gameplay great...you bet it is!!! It is the best it has ever been in the series. However, 2K's football engine is still superior to Maddens new Pro-Tak system. Whereas 2K's tackling engine is much more organic and unpredictable with the animations, M10 (and other EA FB games) have more of a canned presentation to the tackling. The animations do not seem to branch off as naturally and thus can lead to frustrating sequences. Especially if you watch the replays.

The M10 Presentation seems to have taken GREAT strides forward, however 2k5's ESPN presentation with Chris Berman, Mel Kiper, Pre- and Post Game shows, and the overall immersion seems much deeper than what any Madden game has ever offered.

The gameplay is going to undoubtedly be excellent in Madden 10, I believe that the engine is going to hold Madden back. While I prefer Maddens controls, the odd things that happen with the offensive line, suction blocking, bad AI that doesn't block who they are supposed to, warping etc. etc.

Madden has to work on its core elements that take away from their wonderful gameplay.

2K5 while it had its share of issues, was/is far more polished than any Madden game this current Gen. I will be getting my copy of Madden soon and looking forward to comparing these two one final time to see if Madden 10 can take the crown.

I appreciate the work Ian and bunch have put in....I really do want them to SURPASS 2K5 and blaze a new path.
