We Must Demand Better (a Patch Discussion)

Don't you remember the days when the game came out and it just worked out of the box...no patches needed?

I just think it is kind of sad that we are looking forward to "patches" to fix what is broken...when it should not have been shipped until all the bugs were worked out.

Sometimes I feel like we are just so accepting of this act by gaming companies, when in reality we should have the right to be disappointed that a game is knowingly shipped broken and we have to wait for an update or even worse: Next Year. Time after time this happens.

Of course there are deadlines that come and go, but I am more than certain that EA or whoever is making the game at that time, has more than enough time and resources to make the game complete! Last-Gen there were no patches and we had quality products with Sports Games. Now I feel like some companies are taking advantage of Technology and just delivering a sub-par product.

We must demand better quality products from these companies and maybe then we will be able to avoid asking (as with NCAA 10) about a patch for the game and the game has not even been released. Maybe then we will not have to beg for Presentation, and Create-a-team/sign/player/etc to be in the game when these are things that were already standardized in the last gen of gaming. In lieu of recent events with NCAA 10, I am curious as to what your (OS Gamers) thoughts are?

It's the trap of trying to put out a yearly product that is jammed with upgrades and new stuff. I'm sure the EA developers jam alot of hours into these titles but the turn around deadline is likely murder for these products.

I understand the turnaround is tight and these games are complex but, I am not an online gamer and just it's a hasle to have to hook up online and download a patch 2 weeks after the game is out
