*disclaimer: For those that think I am pushing an agenda, No my friend I am merely presenting facts. And if you are a Madden homer at all costs, this is not the blog for you to read.
Carrying on:
I am done with Madden 11. Seriously. 4 weeks into the NFL season.
All the teams have QB's that play to a Pro Bowl caliber, You have NO control over the QB until he has completed his drop which leads to tons of sacks, lame duck INT passes etc that can be avoided (mostly for the player and not the CPU), Most teams do not play anywhere near how they do in real life. Ex.
When Michael Vick went down against the Redskins, they didn't have him come in and start launching bombs down the field....they started off running and he struggled to get into a rhythm with the short passes....In Madden 11 he would have come in and immediately gone 14-16 3TDs.
The game feels like most plays have a predetermined outcome that you have no control over. If the CPU feels like taking a James Harrison (Browns) and running over 3 defensive linemen and going through multiple tackles, they are going to do it and no defense you play can help you. If Chad Henne wants to complete 22/23 passes in a game, there is nothing you can do about it etc.
Superstars still DO NOT play any different than any other average or lower level NFL players. WRs with low awareness can play just as well as Randy Moss in going down field.
This is the NFL not the NHL.
I've had passes that should have been complete yet the CPU decides that Santana Moss should slide both feet out of bounds on a route where he should have just stayed still and caught the ball and turned to go up field.
Passes Float and go much further than what they should.
If I pass to Marvin Harrison on what should be a tight slant route, (with Peyton Manning of all the QBs) why does the ball take it's own route and hang in the air, off target to either be swatted down or picked off? This is something that happens consistently enough that it has become a problem...and yes we all know to hold down the button longer for a bullet.
Ball Physics.
I have never seen a football magnetically stick to players bodies and go from one to another in a rather odd turn of events. How about on an incomplete pass the ball just sticks in the ground like it was launched into mud....
Consistently Dropped INTs: On Sunday watch how many LBs and especially CBs of Charles Woodson variety actually drop super easy INTs on a consistent basis (right in the numbers/floating duck passes...)
Poor Franchise Mode/Superstar mode....terrible "half-done" Half-Time show. (How did it get worse than last year???)
Overall I can go on forever about the problems with Madden 11, but it is clear. The game is not only a step back from last year, but it is also a poor showing as far as this being a culmination of 6years of Next-Gen football.
Sliders should be a choice, not a necessity for me to enjoy my sports games...In Madden they are a MUST and that is to even have a shot at it playing okay.
We have seen what can be done in one year (see NBA 2K11, thus proving my point from blogs dating back to last year) No more excuses, No more $65 rentals.
Count me in #NFL2K13: We are all waiting. Let the countdown begin.

Another big issue for me is that since the latest patch, Gameflow has gotten worse. In my last 2 games, I used teams that are good running and passing the ball (Bengals, Giants) and I'd say the play calls were 90-10% in favor of passing. I didn't have a running play called for me with the Bengals UNTIL THE SECOND HALF!!! With the Giants, it wasn't until the 3rd series. That is unacceptable to me. I do have a created Gameplan for my Giants franchise, so I'm OK there, but what if I just want to play a Play Now game? Gameflow is useless now, so it's back to calling my own plays. That's probably for the better, b/c Gameflow you see the same 15-25 plays every game anyway.
The game is just hard to get invested in if you are a offline player. There's no difference between Franchise and Play Now games. Makes things boring after a while.
Good thing I still have my PS2; Madden is very solid on that system.
