I'll keep this short and sweet. After spending an extensive amount of time with Madden13 and having played all others, including my favorite Maddens 2005/06, I have come to the conclusion that Madden just doesn't hold a candle to NFL 2K5.

2K5 has now been given the title in my book as the best NFL simulation game of all-time. The level of detail in this game is STILL incredible! The Franchise mode is FAR and away better the Connected Careers (which is a great idea in theory but lacking ... Read More

I have never understood how EA Sports gets away with removing features from their sports games and reintroducing them as if they are something we have never seen before in a game.

For example, in the "new" NCAA Football 13, one of the things being touted is a 3, 5, and 7 step drop by the QB. I'm sorry this is something that should be standard in football games....Madden is now introducing the "Infinity Engine"...before that it was Madden 11 "locomotion" in Madden 10 it was "pro-tak"....Does ... After 14 years and numerous accomplishments, the Indianapolis Colts are cutting ties with Peyton Manning. He will undoubtedly be a first ballot Hall of Famer and will be remembered as a Colt, however in moving forward, what team do you think will be the best fit for Manning as he moves to the close of his career? I believe the Jets, Dolphins, Texans, or Chiefs would give him the greatest chances at success. What are your thoughts?

Dear Madden 13,

Please utilize, copy, and port everything that made ESPN NFL 2K5 legendary. That includes presentation, animations( including offensive/defensive line animations; DB/WR animations as well) and game modes. This coupled with Maddens next gen character models will make this the greatest game of all time. Please do not forget to copy the presentation....

Signed,

Sports Gamers

PS. Stealing the spot on commentary and cut scenes ... Read More

*disclaimer: For those that think I am pushing an agenda, No my friend I am merely presenting facts. And if you are a Madden homer at all costs, this is not the blog for you to read.

Carrying on:

I am done with Madden 11. Seriously. 4 weeks into the NFL season.

All the teams have QB's that play to a Pro Bowl caliber, You have NO control over the QB until he has completed his drop which leads to tons of sacks, lame duck INT passes etc that can be avoided ... Read More

In no particular order here are my Sports GOTY candidates:

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa: So much this game does right. The best commentary in any sports game hands down. They breakdown the action, have appropriate banter, discuss other games and their effect on the game you are playing, a spectacular celebration, especially should you win the World Cup. Great game with minimal flaws.

NBA 2K11: Any game that is this deep and forces the competition back ... Read More

Every year on Next-Gen consoles for better or worse, Madden releases their annual NFL football game. Madden is the only NFL game on the market due to their current exclusive license. The game has underachieved in the worst way possible and made tons of excuses for why the game is not What we see on Sunday.

Madden could learn a lesson or two from NBA Elite by taking a year off to perfect the game since they are not currently relinquishing the NFL license. NBA Elite released a DEMO ... Read More

With football season right around the corner, Madden 11 has arrived. And so has the crew's new mantra: Simpler. Quicker. Deeper. Does Madden 11 deliver?

Lets jump right in:

GAMEPLAY

New Additions:

GameFlow: This new way of play calling is a great idea in theory but clumsy in it's execution. The CPU AI will call boneheaded plays quite frequently, especially on defense. For example of 3rd and inches they will call a deep route, when you have a ... Read More

Every year around the time Madden comes out, I read a bunch of postings questioning why NFL 2K5 is still being mentioned as a better game than Madden. Madden has been around for 22years and counting...2K was around for 5years in total. These are not videos I shot, but ones I found on youtube that prove my point. Madden 11 has No Excuse.

After 6years on Next-Gen systems The Madden series has yet to get it quite right. Here are some areas that could use a huge improvement so that the franchise can finally move forward and not only vault past 2K5, but set a new bar in football gaming.

Challenges

In Madden you have no control over what you are challenging and this can be frustrating especially when the CPU may not choose what you were looking to challenge. Ex. You may want to challenge whether or not ... Read More

After watching numerous videos from E3, here are some thoughts about Madden 11 in my most humble opinion:

*There are more replays (YEAH!)

*Gameflow, while a highly touted new feature, I saw nobody use it.

*Gus Johnson sounds really, really edited....maybe too much (fixable?); Love his addition to the game however.

*There is no huge leap forward graphically

*Halftime show is either non-existent, wasn't shown, or exactly what we viewed ... Read More

2K sports announces Michael Jordan as it's 2K11 Cover Athlete

EA Sports announces that NBA Live is now NBA Elite 11 and then boasts how it is going to change the way basketball is played in videogames among other things.

2K10 was a buggy game that wasn't exactly 2K's best work.

Live 10 was a huge step in the right direction.

Mike Wang left EA and returned to 2K.

EA Hires hockey guy who helped turn EA's NHL game into one of ... Read More

EA Sports has spent many years saying "If it's in the Game, Its in the GAME!"

With the 6th year of sports games on the cusp of being released, are we about to witness the rise or fall of EA Sports?

I pose this question because we have witnessed year after year with EA's Basketball and Football games constantly coming up short of expectations. We have been told what can and cannot be done in a one year dev cycle, despite what we have seen from other sports games in the ... Read More

I am posing this question: Which Platform is better for sports gaming?

I currently have an Xbox 360, but don't really care to pay $50/yr to play online.

PS3 is free for online.

I am currently on my 3rd Xbox 360 (now elite).

I rarely hear people complain about their PS3s (or even Wiis) breaking down.

Sports are the primary games I play outside of your (insert popular shooter/rpg here).....Which system is better for sports ... Read More
