I saw that earlier and since I don't have such a doomsday, overly negative p.o.v. that Shinyhubcaps has, I think it's a good thing for the name change. This is basically a third name change for the series where initially it was a Team Vs Team name then went to NBA Showdown then NBA Live.
Now that it's NBA Elite, I think EA has some goodness in store for the series. I think Live 10 was a great game in it's own right and if the new physics engine is coming, I expect even better NBA gaming. The name change is to shake the stigma attached to the Live series and continue to introduce new goodness. I want to see if Live can win my dollars over NBA2K for a second straight year.

Live 10 wasn't as terrible with the 100,000 glitches 2K had. Wonder what NBA Elite 11 will bring to the table against NBA 2K11.

2K had a lot of glitches, but NBA Live has had diminished controls for years. If I can't make the player go where I want him to, the game is a failure. I'm just leery of EA making any game that they call "Elite" when "Passable" is barely within reach for most of their series.

Shinyhubcaps - 2K has the greatest controls in the world where players do exactly what u want them to do, eh? Dude, stop playin'.

No, 2K doesn't. They have canned animations that eliminate footplanting. It's very frustrating, but Live feels like what I imagine my first time on ice skates will be like.

I was disgusted with both offerings this year. Was a Live fan on the PC for a while, then 2K8-9 after Live 07 disaster. This year, rented both for a while, didn't like either.

2k Definitely has glitches and takes control out of your hands a lot.. I hope live or Elite whatever gets better..

the name change will be good for business, means nothing to us... atleast it shouldn't.
and i actually preferred live 10 or 2k10. first live i liked more in a very long time...

The game has been irrelevant for a long time, but I doubt a name change will be all. It looks like they're getting a new physics engine as well. But anyway, for too long they've been saying "NBA Live used to be like Madden. Everyone looked forward to it. We need to get back to that." No, they need to get WAY beyond that.
A name change can't hurt, but there's no way that it will be worthy of a name like "Elite."
