The Sabres reached the playoffs for the first time since 2011 this past season. The Sabres go into the 2017-2018 season after being knocked out of the first round of the playoffs against Tampa Bay. Tyler Ennis had a breakout season with 70 points on the year and became one of the league's recognized snipers with 30 goals. Connor McDavid looks to reach the point-per-game potential Buffalo Head Coach Mike Keenan said he certainly has. "The way he sees the game is uncanny," remarked Keenan. "His vision is impeccable. He can see a play unfolding quicker than many other forwards in the NHL. We're very glad to have him on our team." RW Jesse Puljujärvi did not disappoint in the his rookie season. The 18 year-old power forward racked up 37 points in 66 games. He has drawn comparisons to Finnish legend Teemu Selanne in terms of his dominance on the ice and elite skill level. Top forwards Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart look to have brilliant futures themselves in Sabres jerseys for years to come. The expected top four defensemen of the future for Buffalo of Rasmus Ristolainen, Tyler Myers, Noah Hanifin, and Nikita Zadorov has become a "Power Five" of top defensive prospects with the surprising development of offensive defeseman Chad Ruhwedel. Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy established himself as Buffalo's top netminder midway through last season, and he looks to improve his efforts in the crease as one of the top young goalies in the league. As great as a playoff berth was for Buffalo fans last year, the disappointment of a quick first round exit left Sabres nation wanting more. The Sabres look to capitalize on all-around improved play to make a run in the postseason.
