Over/Under
Posted on August 12, 2024 at 12:39 PM.
This week, we are going to take our first peek at the upcoming College Football season by doing one of my favorite pre-season traditions. Bashing IU football. And looking at the Win totals from Vegas.

A win total is basically a number to wager over or under. Indiana football has a win total of 5.5. So if you think they will win 6 games, you take the over. If you function like a normal adult without the RFK brain worms, you take the under and watch as they struggle to beat FIU in the opener. And you probably cash that ticket in before November. As a matter of fact, I’m saying that FREE MONEY is out there by taking Indiana under 5.5 wins.

So now that you understand the concept, let’s take a look at some other teams.

Michigan – 8.5 – This seems like a bit of a stretch seeing as how they are the defending National Champions, but they did lose their head ball coach and QB. However, I feel if they can get past week 2 at home vs Texas, then they will cruise past 9 wins. Indiana, Minnesota, Fresno St, Arkansas St, Illinois and Northwestern should all be wins – Take Michigan over 8.5

Texas – 10.5 – Texas returns13 total starters and has the golden boy as a backup QB. I think the move to the SEC will be tougher than anticipated. They do return most of the playmakers on defense. This one will be close as I have them at 10-2 – Take Texas under 10.5

Minnesota – 5.5 – Ouch. I don’t bet on my personal favorite teams, and this is why. So Vegas does not even think they are going to make a bowl? They are replacing pretty much everything. I relunctly agree Keep your money

Oklahoma State – 8.5 – Withall the conference re-alignment this off season, the new Big 12 is actually going to be tits! Oklahoma State, with their spectacularly mulleted Head Ball Coach, seems to have the easiest path to the conference championship as the conferences other top dawg (Utah) is coming to OK State this year. Tough road games at Kansas State and TCU means if they can split those and win the rest at home, then they should hit 9 wins this year. Take Oklahoma State over 8.5

NC State – 8.5 – A trendy playoff spoiler team as they have a very manageable home schedule and a neutral field game against Tennessee in week 2. Clemson on the road seems to still be a loss, but most pre-season rankings have the Wolfpack in the mid 20’s. I would feel safe taking the over. Take NCST over 8.5

Purdue – 4.5 – They get to play both Indiana and Indiana State. They might split those 2 games. Other than that, they have a home game vs Northwestern. The Big Ten schedule was too simple so they added Notre Dame non-conference? For a bunch of smart kids, they sure are ****ing stupid. Take Purdue under 4.5

SMU – 8.5 – I just recently watched the excellent ESPN 30 for 30 about the SMU team of the 80’s that got the death penalty for doing stuff that basically everyone was doing back then. Now under NIL it is all legal. It reminded me about the movie Blue Chips and how they tried to paint the coach as a do-gooder who basically was taking advantage of the young guys for generations. Meanwhile the “villain” of the movie basically said what everyone is saying these days, and to not pay the players while the schools make millions and millions each year is criminal. Shaq “acting” is actually what is criminal here. Anywho….The Mustangs go 9-3 – Take the over 8.5
