It's In The Game
Posted on August 12, 2024 at 11:38 AM.
Today just so happens to be one of the greatest days in the history of mankind. Although the webmaster of this very blog will more than likely disagree with everything that I say, I’m going to say it anyway. Today marks the first time in 11 seasons that EA has produced a College Football video game. I have scheduled 9 days off from my actual job to simply play this game.

Before I can tell you how we got here to this place in time, I’m going to need to fill you in a little bit on the back story and why this actually pertains to gambling on real life college football.

So let’s all go back in time, to the year 2013, back when King Trump was just an orange tinted jerk wad, Brittany Spears was crazy and all the people were concerned with was their smart phones. So, basically pretty much the same as it is now. But if you were a sports video game player you had access to the greatest sports video game series of all time, NCAA College Football.

The idea for the series started well before there was a sniff of NIL cash for players. Back in 1994 they started to actually produce games based on college football and college basketball. These early games really sucked balls, even for the times, but the thrill of playing as your favorite college team was strong.

Over time, the games drastically improved and with college football, the game was made with players that looked pretty familiar to who they actually were. In the early days of the game, the only real difference was that you had to know the player’s jersey number and you were good. As technology improved, the ability to “roster share” files of teams with the actual player’s names was added and that’s when the **** hit the fan.

Ed O’Bannon, a former UCLA turd, ruined the whole thing when he sued the makers of EA College Basketball for basically using his image in the game without compensation. The makers of the games had no legal recourse but to say “our bad” and all college sports video games ceased to exist. That was 11 years ago.

Since that time, NIL has become a thing. And while I’m a bit concerned with Phil Knight basically saying that he is going to spend a billion dollars to make Oregon Football a winner, it’s still brought me the greatest gift of all, NCAA College Football 25. This game is TITS! I got the pre-order so I have been playing for a few days now and other than my kids being born, it’s the greatest thing ever.

Which brings me to the gambling portion of this blog. In the past, I’ve talked about using the Sargin, RT RPI, College Football sims websites to pick thru games. Well now I’m going to have access to the greatest simulator known to man. Questions about Penn State’s running backs? Well how about I give them a try for myself. 45 points too much for Wisconsin, let me put the offense thru the wringer. The more access to data you have, the better. But now along with that same data, I’ll get to test drive it myself?
