Wildcats Win Again, Advance to Championship

The Wildcats won again at the Maui Invitational and their next stop: the championship. They got off to a slow start, missing on their first 7 shot attempts and Dayton got of to a 13-4 start. Later in the half however, the Wildcats came charging back led by Chris Kramer. They went on a 16-3 and took the lead. Chris Kramer hit a half-court jump shot to take a 36 to 27 lead before halftime.

The Flyers did not shoot very well, connecting on only 33%(22-66) of their shots. They did get the Villanova lead down to five late in the second half but they went cold at just the wrong time, going more than 4 minutes without a basket and committing a pair of turnovers that the Wilcats converted into scores. Stokes' emergence certainly helped, too. He hit two 3-pointers late in the game.

The Wildcats will be taking on the Kentucky Wildcats in the championship. Kentucky took down the North Carolina Tarheels and Ohio State University in overtime to make it to the championship. Villanova will have its hands full with Kentucky as they are undefeated. Charlie Brewer has been playing tremendous basketball for the Wildcats making 57% of his shots in this series. The results of the championship will be here tonight.
