BOSTON, MA - The beginning of the season has been mostly drama free for Boston, but John Farrell couldn't avoid it forever. After coming to Spring Training overweight and barely holding on to a starting spot, Pablo Sandoval has finally found himself in the doghouse. Sandoval has not hit well so far and he would find the bench in favor of Travis Shaw at 3B.
A visit from the Rockies would be an excellent opportunity for Farrell to shake things up, with David Price facing Tyler Anderson the odds were in their favor. As thing would turn out, the game would be decided in the 1st inning. A Xander Bogaerts RBI double would drive in Mookie Betts from first to give Boston a 1-0 lead they would never surrender.
Price would take that 1-0 lead and carry it through the entire game for a gem of a perfect game. Sixteen strike outs would keep the Rockies off the scoreboard and keep Boston rolling toward an AL East title.
Jackie Bradley Jr. and Rusney Castillo would both hit RBI doubles in the 4th to really put the Rockies out of the game, and things were rather quite from then on with both Price and the Rockies pitching staff doing an excellent job. Bogaerts would be the offensive standout going 2/4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
