THE BOSTON GLOBE (RED SOX DYNASTY REPORT)

BOSTON, MA - The Red Sox, now having one hell of a month, head back home this week for a series against the AL East front-runner Texas Rangers. Chris Archer wouldn't be all that intimidated about facing Darvish, but he dodged a bullet by going up against Tanner Scheppers today.

As usual (lately) the Red Sox struck first in the 2nd inning with a Will Middlebrooks 2R-HR, and then he homered again in the 4th to put Boston up 3-0. Blake Swihart added two more with a HR of his own with David Ortiz on 1st to go up 5-0.

Archer, normally prone to walking batter, tore right through the Rangers today with great ease. His issue with walks seems to come down to his nemesis; the slider. When his slider is sweeping across the plate, staying low, and catching the corner of the strike zone it's devastating. When Archer's slider is on, righties can't hit it, but when it's off it's a HR waiting to happen.

Middlebrooks 2HRs powers Boston past Texas.

It took seven innings before the Rangers managed to get on the board, and it took a series of hits to do it, with Leonys Martin driving in a run with a single. Boston came right back with a Dustin Pedroia RBI double to make it 6-1. Archer went 8 strong and finished the game with 6H, one BB, and 17K. Archer's strikeout rate has gone from a streak to a season long phenomenon, and the single-season K record is starting to look like a possibility.
