2015 Season - All Star Break Standings & MiLB Moves

THE BOSTON GLOBE (RED SOX DYNASTY REPORT)

BOSTON, MA - The All Star break is here and not a moment too soon for the ailing Red Sox offense. They have hit so poorly it's a wonder they win any games, but their pitching has been great, so great that the AL East is still within their grasp. It's going to be a tough run to the end of the season with five teams within 5 games of the division lead, everyone but the Yankees have a shot.

The AL East has lost a little shine, losing the "hardest division" crown to the NL West for the moment. Fans can always fall back on the "they are so good they hurt eachother's records" argument, but it's hard to deny the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. LA (61-34) and Arizona (59-37) hold the best records in baseball, and if 2014 is any indication it won't change between now and the end of the season.

Mid-Season MiLB Moves

Not too many surprises down on the farm, most of the big moves have been in the works for some time. The vast majority of the moves involved bringing guys from AA Portland to AAA Pawtucket in anticipation of a shot at making the majors in 2016.

RHP Leonys Bravo : Promoted to AAA after breezing through a half-season in Portland. 12-3, 2.15ERA and 194K in 150.2IP. Time to see if he will be ready for 2016 or if 2017/18 is more likely.

1B Isaac Koufax : Nobody blocking him in Pawtucket, so Boston felt they might as well give him a shot. Glove can play at any level, but his .299BA with 18HR has really surprised evaluators.

OF Rico Berroa : Much like Koufax, nobody blocking him and can play defense in the majors right now. .291BA and 17SB were eye openers and helped him earn a promotion to AAA.

RHP Roddy Gibson : Looked better than expected through Rookie and Class A-Advanced, moves into a AA Portland rotation that was decimated by promotions to start 2015 and instantly becomes their ace. Really exciting young talent that has coaches buzzing.
