THE BOSTON GLOBE (RED SOX DYNASTY REPORT)

CHICAGO, IL - The Red Sox headed back to the AL Central this week for a showdown with the White Sox, and they would need to keep winning if they wanted to keep things close in the East. Archer, coming off three straight games where he has struck out 14 or more would have to continue pitching well. Torii Hunter would get the nod in LF today with Mookie Betts needing a day off.

Outside of Archer, this game was pretty boring while highlighting some of Boston's issues with scoring runs. Boston opened the scoring in the 1st thanks to a throwing error that put Jackie Bradley Jr. on 2nd, and then a Xander Bogaerts single drove him in. Blake Swihart would make it 2-0 in the 2nd with an RBI double that would easily score Hunter from 3rd.

Bradley Jr. is quietly having a very good season.

Archer cruised through the White Sox hitters, walking a few but striking out most of them. Bogaerts made it 3-0 in the 5th with a solo-HR and Archer took a seat after 7IP. Archer finished the day with a single hit, 4BB, and 16K which puts him on a record shattering pace. Bradley Jr. added a solo-HR of his own in the 9th and Boston closed out the game 4-0 on another Archer gem. Bogaerts was the only Boston player that did much, going 3/5 with a HR, 2RBI, and 2SB. The Red Sox hammered out 12 hits but only managed 4 runs.
