THE BOSTON GLOBE (RED SOX DYNASTY REPORT)

ARLINGTON, TX - The Red Sox open their season on the road again, this time on a warm Texas afternoon. A slight breeze would help cool things down, but Chris Archer would be thrown into the fire for his first start as Boston's ace. Yu Darvish would start for Texas, and he wouldn't make anything easy for the defending champs.

Darvish looked good to start the game, but he slipped up in the 2nd inning by giving up a deep double to the rookie Mookie Betts which would score Middlebrooks from 1st and open up the game with a 1-0 lead. Archer was very hit-or-miss, and he was missing the plate regularly. He walked a number of batters, and it finally caught up with him in the 4th after walking two batter in a row. Leonys Martin scored Jurickson Profar from 2nd with a single, and then Shin-Soo Choo drove in another to make it 2-0.

Darvish made it look easy

Archer was pulled after 7.0IP and a whopping 7BB that basically cancelled out his 10K. Darvish left after 6.1IP, but it didn't matter as Texas' staff continued to fluster Boston until Neftali Feliz put them out of their misery in the 9th. Not a good way to start the season, but that's why they play 162.
