THE BOSTON GLOBE (RED SOX DYNASTY REPORT)

BOSTON, MA - The Red Sox announced that Shelby Miller would be placed on the 60-day DL with a broken hand, an injury that should keep him out for 2-3 months. Miller broke his hand when a come-backer from Robinson Cano struck his left hand in the 5th inning. Miller immediately left the game against Seattle in considerable pain.

Chris Archer, who has looked much better at Pawtucket, was recalled from AAA to take his place in the rotation. Boston has also promoted Henry Owens from AA Portland to AAA to take Archer's place.

If Miller is able to heal faster than expected, and Boston makes it all the way to the World Series, he may be available to pitch then. Most expect Miller to sit out the remainder of 2014, a painful way to miss the playoffs for a second year in a row.
