THE BOSTON GLOBE (RED SOX DYNASTY REPORT)

BOSTON, MA - Jon Lester just cannot catch a break this season, and now he has to face off against another solid team in the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers currently boast the AL's best record, and with some of th best hitters in the game, they wouldn't surrender that title easily.

Detroit's Rick Porcello would face off against Lester, going pitch-for-pitch until things got interesting in the 3rd inning. Lester would load the bases, and come up against the heart of Detroit's order, but work his way to safety by managing three outs and no runs allowed. Porcello on the other hand would give up a solo-HR to AJ Pierzynski. Lester would finally crack, giving up two runs in the 6th to fall behind 2-1 and end his day there having thrown over 100 pitches already.

Boston would lean on Ortiz in the 7th for a solo-HR, and both teams would cruise through the 9th tied 2-2. Junichi Tazawa would stay in after throwing a perfect 9th inning, and Manager John Farrell would soon regret that decision. Tazawa would struggle mightily, giving up a run and walking Miguel Cabrera to load the bases for Victor Martinez. Martinez would return the favor with a towering grand slam that landed on Lansdowne Street and ended the game in the 10th 7-2.
