THE BOSTON GLOBE (RED SOX DYNASTY REPORT)

TORONTO, ON - After a rough stretch, and the shame of losing to the Yankees, Boston faced off against division foe Toronto. The Blue Jays, themselves hovering around .500, would start promising youngster Drew Hutchison. Hutchison is fighting with fellow Blue Jay Marcus Stroman for future-ace honors, and the slumping Red Sox would be a prime target for his third win.

Hutchison would pitch well, but not quite well enough to win this one. After taking a 1-0 lead on a Macier Izturis solo-HR in the 2nd Boston would come back to tie the game in the 3rd and Grady Sizemore would hit a 2R shot for a 3-1 lead. Hutchison steadied the ship, allowing 8 hits over 5.0IP, and looked like a true ace-to-be. Lester on the other hand, looked like a very solid veteran, and blanked Toronto over 6IP with only 2H and 8K.

The normally reliable Uehara was a little off

Edward Mujica would come in for Lester in the 7th and shut out the Blue Jays through the 9th, then Koji Uehara would come in and make the game interesting again. Uehara's normally devastating splitter was off, and Uehara struggled to get two outs before allowing a hit and a walk to bring the winning run to the plate. Uehara's splitter came back just in time to induce a game-ending ground out and nab Lester's third win.
