THE BOSTON GLOBE (RED SOX DYNASTY REPORT)

BOSTON, MA - The Red Sox closed out their three-game series today with the Brewers, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Boston would drop the home opener on Friday, their first blemish of the season, but today would turn out to be historic for the Red Sox.

It only took two batters in the bottom of the 1st for the first milestone of the game as Dustin Pedroia hammered a two-run HR on to Lansdowne Street for the 100th of his career. It may have been the fireworks, but Matt Garza just never recovered and looked imminently hittable for the few innings he pitched. The Red Sox scored three more in the 2nd and one more in the 3rd and 4th, sending Garza to the locker room with 7ER in just 3.2IP.

Lester's no-hitter put the Brewers away

While Pedroia's 100th was a big deal, it was quickly overshadowed by Jon Lester's pitching performance. The two-run shot in the first was more than enough for Boston to win as Lester tossed a near-perfect game that ended as a no-hitter. The Brewers just could not hit Lester, despite all their efforts, and ended the game with a whopping 15K. The perfection was lost in the 7th with a BB to Jean Segura, and a fielding error by Will Middlebrooks that put Ryan Braun on base. Lester managed to strike out the next batter and never looked back.
