The NBA season ended and instantly we were all reminded of how long it's going to be until college football and the NFL seasons. I have good news for you all. ESPN is airing CFL games! Even with the different rules It's still good football. This got me thinking. EA has the NFL license locked up for the foreseeable future. But could 2K use the CFL license and make a great football game? Off the top of my head there are 2 big pluses. First there'd be a 2nd football game option. And secondly there'd be a sports game released right at the start off the summer, because from what I understand the season started on the 26th on June. So here's my question: Would you pay for CFL 2k17? One reminder there's real teams, real cities, real stadiums, and most importantly real players. Some are college stars who were good just not NFL good.

@Bxphenom7 the games come on espn on Fridays. That's what prompted me to right this. And the games are pretty good tbh well the 2 that aired.

Pythons08 you make a good point. I enjoy playing madden and I think having another football game not with NFL logos and players would actually allow people to play both which could lead to the growth of football but I'm not sure if it would be globally.

It would take forever for 2k to make a quality game on par with the Madden series. Why not just submit all your ideas to EA to enhance that game and includes more leagues?

@balljonesjr cool, thanks man!
@pythons8 great point. I really do hope 2k sees making thw investment for a 2k game would work well. The CFL license can't be any where near the price of the NFl license. So they could pay for that while leaving a lot of funds for development. Especially since 2k is doing well these days across the board, and Take 2 is swimming in GTA 5 money.

Aside from OS and commenting on madden videos online I wouldn't know how to get my ideas to them. But I'm sure the community people they go to gives them a lot more ideas than what is put in the game.

This is why I think Joe Montana football is a waste of time and why I don't feel sorry for 2k, microsoft, 3Do or any other one and I'll tell you why. these game companies are chasing a ghost. EA has the license, had it for 11 years now and will probably have it for longer. I would make a CFL game and sit back, I know someone somewhere will enjoy that game and bring in money. They are in the position they are in because they are stupid. 2k and all of these develop companies sat up there and released these stupid generic games that amounted to nothing to prove no point whatsoever. That's my 2cents.

Yeah, I don't get why they were willing to do a generic game that only had a season mode insteas of a licensed CFL game with an untapped market. I don't know how they thought APF 2k8 was going to sell well. I don't feel sorry for them, but I'm hoping someone recognizes this opportunity other than EA because then the CFL will just be added to Madden in the same way women's teams were added to FIFA.

This is my point exactly. That Joe Montana tease had the sports gaming world in the palms of there hands. Then at E3 the devs spit in the hands we were all sitting in. I can't be mad at them for the route they are taking it's their choice. But in an earlier post $$$ was brought up, those guys just lost a lot of the money they were going to make. People were willing to buy JMF16 a generic football game why wouldn't they buy a licensed CFL game?

Pythons80 @ Jul 3
People would buy a CFL game, a lot of people. But the cost of developing the game from scratch might exceed the amount of money they would make; It would be a gamble. Someone mentioned possibly creating a CFL add-on feature to future Madden games but I think there are just too many little nuances within the CFL game that might make that very difficult. I'm not sure which would be the more cost effective route but somehow the CFL needs to get a video game out there on the market.

2k doesn't have to start from scratch. It would be different if MS or Sony tried to develop a football game because they haven't optimized their engines for it and Sony would probably start from scratch using the MLB engine, which is no different than the PS2 days when both games shared the same engine. 2k said they've kept football concepts for their engine on the side regularly being updated. So I believe a 2k game would be ready to compete its first year in the market if they don't strip away features.

I did a little research and found this out, (you guys can be the judge if it's good or bad I'm not really sure how I feel) there are only 9 teams with only 42 players (A CFL team may dress up to*42 playerscomprising*20*non-imports (essentially, Canadians), 19 imports (almost exclusively Americans), and 3 quarterbacks) and 4 stadiums. Is this good or bad?
# 28
bxphenom7 @ Jul 4
Na not bad. That just means more detail and attention can go into the game with less teams and stadiums to work on. A nice feature to have would be a "create a stadium" feature though, along with relocation in Franchise. This also means modes can get more attention as well. Plus, I really believe the CFL would heavily benefit from a game, and we could see expansion teams in the future.

Yea the create a anything feature in sports games use to be the highlight for me but the detail outside of players slowly declined to where it's not even in madden anymore on there. The last decent create a anything was team builder in ncaa and that game even had stadium restrictions

Lol @ balljonesjr I'm not sure where u got ur info from but each of the 9 teams have their own stadium.
