It's a light Friday update by Diamond Dynasty standards. A new pack, a couple new cards and a small roster update are the major highlights.
The June 2nd Bases Loaded pack costs 5,000 Stubs per pack (limit 3 per person) and will have a guaranteed Impact Veteran or Breakout Series player in it. The new players in these packs (in addition to all the old classics) are Impact Veteran Aaron Hill (89 overall), Impact Veteran Angel Pagan (85), Impact Veteran Dioner Navarro (84), Impact Veteran Denard Span (84), Impact Veteran Justin Morneau (81), Impact Veteran Johnny Bench (78), and Impact Veteran Dale Murphy (73). I would say these packs are not worth your Stubs, so if you're really dying to get a couple more Breakout or Impact Veterans just head to the Marketplace and buy a couple.
Battle Royale got a mid-week update that added Breakout Eric Gagne (97) and Hardware Joey Votto (96) as two new potential rewards for going 12-0. Another group of players were added today as potential rewards for various tiers of wins. These players include Impact Veteran Chipper Jones (95), Postseason Flashback Cole Hamels (95), Impact Veteran Cliff Floyd (88), Impact Veteran Drew Storen (87), Impact Veteran Shin-Soo Choo (85), Impact Veteran Joaquin Benoit (85), All-Star Odubel Herrera (84), Impact Veteran Drew Pomeranz (84), Impact Veteran Roberto Alomar (83), All-Star Addison Russell (82), and Impact Veteran Ted Williams (80).
In terms of the roster update, it lacks any major impact, but as always, we still have some players moving between tiers.

A new program, a new set of cards, and some new Impact Veterans have been added to Diamond Dynasty today. This program is a departure from previous programs as you'll be able to do all gameplay elements of it without having to play any online games. There is a mix of missions within the program, but the only truly time-consuming one will be matching Roy Oswalt's 2010 statistics with Impact Veteran starting pitchers (211 innings pitched, 13 wins, 193 strikeouts, 2 complete game shutouts). This is more challenging in the short term as there are not many Impact Veteran starting pitchers even available for use unless you have Tickets, or lots of Stubs or have finished certain collections.
The new Set 5 card pack released also has a focus on Impact Veteran starters. The two exclusive cards are a C.C. Sabathia Impact Veteran (97 overall), and an Impact Veteran Nolan Ryan (94). Other new Impact Veterans released today include Anibal Sanchez (91), Ron Guidry (88), Mike Scott (88), Bret Saberhagen (86) and Phil Niekro (82).
Lastly, the final reward for the Roy Oswalt Program is a Diamond Impact Veteran Roy Oswalt (93). The 50 percent reward for the program is an Impact Veteran Ben Revere (81).

Diamond Dynasty received a roster update, two new packs, a new Player Epic mission, new cards in the Ticket Store and a new Collect mission today.
The new Player Epic mission revolves around Rookie Wade Boggs (79 overall), and he has a better chance of being found in the limited edition Ballin Is A Habit pack (15K Stubs). The Ballin pack also has a greater chance at Diamonds and Golds, but there is no percentage listed in terms of how it correlates to regular packs. I personally opened one pack and got a Joey Votto and Dallas Keuchel, but obviously that should not sway you one way or the other. The other pack released is the usual Bases Loaded pack. This one is limited to three per person and costs 5,000 Stubs per pack. You will get a guaranteed Camo equipment item in the pack, and you need all six to complete the Hardware Legend Yogi Berra (96) Collect mission. It appears two of the six items are much rarer than the others, as four equipment items are going for around 1,000 Stubs while the other two are going for over 25,000 Stubs on the Marketplace at this juncture.
The Ticket Store has three new Veteran cards in it today, most likely as the beginning of a preparation for the next Program, which will presumably be a Veteran program. They are a Veteran Flashback Victor Martinez (94 overall, Gold Level 1, 2,650 Tickets), Veteran Legend Tom Seaver (84 overall, Bronze Level 50, 600 Tickets), and a Brad Ziegler (82 overall, Bronze Level 30, 440 Tickets).
The roster update this week was more a slow burn than a big shake-up. It sets the table for a more explosive roster update in the future with more players changing tiers, but for now it mostly moved players around within existing tiers.

The Veteran Legend Ken Griffey Jr. card has been released in the Ticket Counter, which means people who pre-ordered MLB The Show 17 and already have Rookie Legend Ken Griffey Jr. can now (in theory) complete the Diamond Program to unlock the MVP Legend Ken Griffey Jr. (99 overall). The Diamond Program tied to this MVP Griffey card still takes many other steps, and you will need to be Gold level 1 and have 5,000 Tickets to purchase the Veteran Griffey, but at least some folks out there who had been grinding and waiting for this card to be released should now be able to snag one of the best cards in the game. If you don't currently have the Rookie Griffey, the developers at Sony San Diego have said the card will be released at some point, we just don't have a date as of yet.
There was also a roster update and a new Bases Loaded pack released (5,000 Stubs, limited to three per person). The Bases Loaded pack actually has solid value this time around as you're guaranteed at least two standard packs, plus one of the old promo packs or a 10, 20 or 50 pack bundle of standard packs. So in theory you could get 52 packs for 5,000 Stubs.
In terms of the roster update, it was a relatively tame one this week, but we still have some players moving between tiers:

Another busy afternoon for Diamond Dynasty mode includes the Ranked Seasons rewards rolling out, a new Event being advertised before beginning tomorrow, and the Set 4 packs being released along with a pack that's tailored to the Event that will be taking place.
The Ranked Seasons rewards affect everyone who played that mode, so it's worth mentioning the release of these rewards began at 3 p.m. EST, and will be continuing for at least a couple hours. This includes the Breakout Paul Goldschmidt for those who made it to World Series rank, and the Francisco Liriano for those who at least made it to the Pennant Race tier -- as well as various other rewards depending on the highest tier you made it to during the first Ranked Seasons. The next season of Ranked Seasons will begin once the rewards have been finished being given out (presumably later today).
The new event is called Advantage: Hitters, and it will run from May 17-24. It is titled as such because it will be right-handed-only batting lineups going up against left-handed-only pitching rotations. The new pack tailored to this event is also up in the Store, and it will run you 4,000 Stubs per pack. The pack includes a guaranteed Legend or Flashback, and any of those throwbacks pulled from the pack will be eligible for the event. The exclusive players for this pack are the Hardware Legend Robin Yount (93 overall), and the Hardware Legend Steve Garvey (88). This 3-inning event will be played on All-Star difficulty, and your team can be as high as 90 overall. The top rewards are a Breakout Joe Carter (89) that you get for 50 cumulative wins, and a All-Star Flashback Andrew Miller (93) that you get for 12-win streak.
The other new pack is the Set 4 pack, which includes exclusive Breakout Legend Cal Ripkin (94), and Breakout Flashback Mat Latos (91).
Finally, some other new cards are now in the game, and they all tie into the new Ranked Season or new Event. These players are All-Star Legend Tony Gwynn (96) that you get if you make it to World Series tier in the second Ranked Seasons, and Impact Veteran Flashback Doug Fister (85) that you get for making it to Pennant Race in Season 2. As for the event, this includes a Breakout Legend Harmon Killebrew (86) that you get for a 9-win streak, and a Impact Veteran Legend Tony Perez (78) that you get for winning at least 30 games during the event.

There was a Diamond Dynasty update today that included Sony San Diego giving every user who signed on between 3/28-5/11 10 Standard packs and 11K Stubs. In addition, there was a roster update, the release of the Nelson Cruz Breakout Program, a Mother's Day Exchange Mission for a Postseason Jose Bautista (90 overall), and the release of various other Breakout cards to help with the Eddie Matthews Player Epic and Nelson Cruz Breakout Program.
The Nelson Cruz Breakout Program has seven parts, with the final goal netting you an 85 overall Breakout Nelson Cruz. Like the other programs, the missions involve all facets of Diamond Dynasty, with the most time-consuming aspect being to hit 33 home runs with Breakout Series players in online games.
The new Bases Loaded pack (limited to 3 per person, 5,000 Stubs per pack) includes a guaranteed Mother's Day equipment item. You need 15 of those to get the Postseason Jose Bautista. I recommend just buying these 15 items individually, as right now each one costs less than buying a single pack, and you just need 15 items (they don't need to be unique) in order to get the Bautista.
In terms of the roster update, here is a list of the players that moved up and down various tiers. I will also note that Jake Arrieta dropped from a 92 to a 90, and Chris Sale jumped up from a 93 to a 95.

A limited edition, limited quantity Bases Loaded Pack was released today that coincides with a new Player Epic Mission for a Monthly Awards Eric Thames. The mission revolves around collecting all six Monthy Awards players (Jason Vargas, Ryan Zimmerman, Mike Leake, Aaron Judge, Chris Owings and Mitch Haniger). The pack costs 20K Stubs and is limited to one per person -- it's wise to realize only the Aaron Judge and Ryan Zimmerman will make the purchase worth your while. Otherwise, it's best to just go and bite the bullet to buy each card on the Marketplace. The Mitch Haniger is the one card not in these packs, instead he costs 1,400 Tickets and you must be at least a Silver Level 50 to acquire the card.
There are also a bunch of other little additions to Diamond Dynasty. In the Ticket Counter, you will find a Breakout Orel Hershiser (2,300 Tickets, Gold Level 1) and a Breakout Dale Murphy (500 Tickets, Bronze Level 50). There are also a bunch of new Breakout cards that have been added to the mode overall. These are most likely to help you with the Doug Drabek Program, which revolves around using Breakout pitchers, as well as the Monthly Ranked Seasons Missions that partially revolve around doing particular things with Breakout/Flashback hitters. These players include Breakout Rich Gossage (90 overall), Breakout Jack McDowell (90), Breakout Chase Headley (94), Breakout Ian Kennedy (89), Breakout Steve Cishek (89), Breakout John Danks (85), Breakout Marco Estrada (85), Breakout Brad Boxberger (84), Breakout Logan Forsythe (83) and Breakout Didi Gregorius (82).
Some new Time Limited Missions were also added today. They all revolve around particular weekend matchups but don't seem particularly worthwhile, with the rewards for each one just being a specific MLB stadium.
Finally, there was a roster update today, which led to some players fluctuating between card tiers. Here is the breakdown of the tier changes:

The third of MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty Programs was just released, this time featuring an 86 overall Breakout Doug Drabek. Much like the Chris Archer and Chipper Jones Programs, this one involves multiple modes of play, with the most challenging accomplishments being 15 wins with Breakout Series players in head-to-head online games, and tallying 75 strikeouts with Breakout Series pitchers in Ranked Seasons games.
I am sure some will be frustrated by this program in that there are already two Doug Drabeks available (a Rookie Series version in the Ticket Counter store, and a Diamond version for collecting all Pirates). There have been some complaints about multiple versions of players being released rather than more unique legends finding their way into Diamond Dynasty mode thus far, and so this adds to that glut via a whole program revolving around getting a redundant player. To be fair, how many legends are in the game is purely based on who Sony has the rights to put in the game to begin with, and so if their legend pool does not have the depth to make it through a whole season, this is one way to at least try and extend the life of the mode.
That being said, for those who enjoy the challenge of completing missions to get the XP, players, packs and Stubs, this is another way to spend time doing just that.
Finally, Set 3 of the Standard Packs was also released today, featuring exclusive players Breakout Edgar Martinez and Breakout Bob Feller.

A new roster update and a new pack of cards went live today for Diamond Dynasty. The pack of cards is the April 28 Bases Loaded Pack.
The main draw of this pack is you are guaranteed a single Griffey equipment item to hopefully help you finish that portion of the Diamond Program. It costs 2,000 Stubs and you are limited to five packs. My personal recommendation is to pass on this pack of cards. You're very likely to just get duplicates of the Silver equipment items -- even with a triple chance of a Diamond player, with only 3 player items per pack it's not good math on that end either.
On the roster update end of things, the biggest change is that Freddie Freeman is now a Diamond player. This should make finishing the Braves collection much more expensive moving forward.
Other major changes include:
-James Paxton jumping from a Silver to a Gold.
-Bryce Harper becoming an even more dominant Diamond.
-Raisel Iglesias becoming a Gold, which gives the Reds their first Gold player of the season (Votto is a Diamond).
-Wil Myers going from Silver to Gold, which again should make the Padres collection a little more pricey to finish as this is the first Padres player to go Gold.
-Ivan Nova, Chris Devenski, Ervin Santana, Jason Vargas and Dylan Bundy jumped from Bronze to Silver players.
-Jason Heyward and Curtis Granderson jumped from Bronze to Silver.
-And Eric Thames was finally added to the game, and he comes in at a 82 overall, with 80 power against lefties and righties.
-EDIT- OS user PRBoricua has also pointed out the Player Spotlight mission for the All-Star Ken Griffey Jr. has been altered so you now have unlimited Ranked Seasons games to get the 10 home runs and 22 RBIs to unlock the Breakout Ken Griffey Jr.

Some new updates to Diamond Dynasty today included new cards being added to the Ticket Counter, a new Event being posted, and the addition of a time-limited Rookie Series pack you can purchase for 4,500 Stubs (limit 3 per person).
The exclusive cards in this pack are a Rookie Flashback Yasiel Puig (Gold), and a Rookie Flashback Aroldis Chapman (Silver). Some other new rookies you can find in these packs include Orel Hershiser (Gold), Kenny Lofton (Gold), Marcus Stroman (Gold), Dustin Ackley (Silver), Aledmys Diaz (Silver), Daniel Murphy (Silver), Gary Carter (Bronze), Jack McDowell (Bronze), Billy Wagner (Bronze), Fred McGriff (Bronze), Max Kepler (Bronze), Nomar Mazara (Bronze), Rollie Fingers (Bronze), and Justin Turner (Bronze).
The new players included on the Ticket Counter are also rookies. These players are Tony Perez (280 tickets, level 10), Doug Drabek (155 tickets, level 0), and Steve Finley (55 tickets, level 0). None of these players have a Player Spotlight tied to them, so only buy them if you actually want to use them for other challenges or missions.
The last big update is that a new Event will start on Thursday at 3 p.m. EST. This is the "25 and Under" Event where you can use any player 25 or under who is not a Diamond. Your team is capped at 89 overall, and the top rewards are a Hardware Legend Jackie Robinson (Silver) for a 10-win streak, and a Hardware Flashback Justin Verlander (Bronze) for 20 cumulative wins. These will be 6-inning games on All-Star difficulty.
Lastly, a quick reminder that the Time-Limited Red Sox/Yankees mission is ongoing right now and involves tallying 20 runs with Yankees or Red Sox players in Diamond Dynasty Games. It will end on April 27 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

There was a new time-limited Diamond Dynasty pack released for MLB The Show 17 on Friday. It is the Bases Loaded pack. It comes with one guaranteed Silver player, double the chance of a Gold player and triple the chance of a Diamond player.
You can buy a limit of four packs, and they cost 4,000 Stubs per pack. I opened up a single pack and Nolan Arenado was the first card I pulled. Your luck probably won't be that good, but hey, there's hope.

NBA 2K17 will soon be upon us (as Mike Wang’s recent gameplay blog shows), but there’s one topic I have to talk about before release season officially arrives: team defense.
This past year I’ve talked a lot about multi-man interactions and defensive situations, but one thing I haven’t really talked about is how an entire defense works together. Team defense can be very hit or miss in NBA 2K16. At points the rotations are great, but other times team defense breaks down every step of the way.
So after the jump, I’ll dive in with some GIFs that try to detail the good, the bad and the ugly of NBA 2K16’s team defense.

Players On The Rise
Old guys still matter! Zorilla, Big Papi, Kinsler all got some love this week as veterans still showing out in their 30s. Andrew Miller is the highest overall player impacted on the positive side of things this week, moving up one point to 92.
The Phillies got some notice this week as Aaron Nola became the first Gold player on the Phils. Odubel Herrera was also boosted up to 83 overall and is now on the cusp of going Gold.
A bunch of other young, talented players got boosts as well. That list includes Trayce Thompson, Jackie Bradley Jr., Trevor Story and Nick Castellanos.

Oh, hey guysssss. So welcome back for another year of MLB The Show predictions. This feature was slumbering while The Show figured out a consistent release schedule for new rosters. Now that Friday seems to be the day when new rosters come out, that means I can start predicting ratings changes on Thursdays.
I’ll be breaking down my predictions into three categories once again (high, medium, low) as well as adding a “hold” category for players I think can become higher rated over the course of the season (see: Bryce Harper going from Silver to Diamond last season -- there’s only one Bryce though).
Okay, let’s get to it:
Ratings Boost Probability: High
Jackie Bradley Jr. - He's got a 23-game hitting streak going, and he's one of the best players in the AL this season. He has 7 home runs and a .370 average over the last month.
Ian Desmond - A bit forgotten after a weird offseason, but he's just rolling the last month in Texas. The mix of power, speed and average makes him a solid all-around player.
Adam Eaton - FanGraphs pointed out how valuable Adam Eaton has become, and it makes sense. He’s in the lineup every day, he’s not bad at anything, and he’s at least a plus-player in almost everything. He’s got a bunch of multi-hit games the last month, and he really does look like a top-tier center fielder at this point.
Danny Salazar - It’s only 50 innings, but you take notice of a guy with 61 Ks in 50 innings to go with a 1.8 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Now his xFIP is 3.38 so he’s over his head for now, but Salazar has unbelievable stuff and is getting big-time results right now.
