Ever since companies have figured out how to patch console games, it seems as if the number of big bugs being shipped with games has gone up exponentially. Will Soistman checks in today with an article to discuss what has become a hot button topic in the community lately, are patches really a good thing for gamers?

Quote:
"August 12th has come and gone and many of us have played Madden 09 in some way or form by now. In fact, on the PS3 the 1st patch has already made its rounds to those who have internet access. Wait a minute... The game has just been released, and there is a patch for it? There is also a 2nd patch announced too?! A lot of people see it as great news since the developers are fixing any mistakes that the community has found with their games. But are patches really a great thing for gaming?"

With the mixed reactions NCAA has been receiving thus far in the community, one could say there are probably some good reasons why Madden should top NCAA this year. Our very own Will Soistman has a few ideas of his own and shares them in his article, Why Madden Will Be Better Than NCAA.

Quote:
"I love the sport of football, and summer is the best time of year to fill my need for video game football. But while NCAA Football is a great game in its own regard, it simply does not fill the void."

"The glorious season of summer is here and that means two things: Baseball is the only thing to watch, and the two big football games will be arriving in stores shortly. But what do we do while we wait for the first football game (NCAA 09) to arrive in our laps? Well guys and gals, the answer to that question is why I am here.

Below I will be detailing what to play in order quench that sport's thirst that dwells inside our bodies. These games are ranked, based on a combination of how great the particular games are to me, and the relevance they have being played during the summer downtime."

This week we see part four of Will Soistman's series which is comparing Madden NFL 08 to ESPN NFL 2k5. This week soistman compares the presentation aspects of the games. Does Madden even stand a chance? Read part four of the ESPN NFL 2k5 vs. Madden NFL 08 comparison to find out!

Quote:
"In ESPN, a virtual Chris Berman runs down the match-up that is up ahead and gives his take on what could happen. He then hands the duties over to Dan and Peter for the play-by-play duties. They rundown who they think will make the biggest impact in the game as cameras fly by to show the player warming up. Even the coin toss has its own animations with the captains coming up and choosing heads or tails and the referee making the call. From the coin toss to key players the pre-game introductions are phenomenal and never seem to be repetitive."

Continuing our grudge match between Madden NFL 08 and NFL 2k5, we have Wil Soistman comparing the graphical components of each game this week. Check out part three of our comparison of Madden NFL 08 vs. NFL 2k5.

Quote:
"This week's comparison brings us to the debate on graphics. Coming off last week's in-depth comparison of the controls and gameplay makes this week's comparison feel simplistic. Now, comparing a game that came out almost four years ago to a game that came out just last year is not a hard comparison to make because technology has advanced. So Madden is the clear cut winner in this category, right?"

Operation Sports' Will Soistman has written part one of a multiple part series which will compare NFL 2k5 with Madden NFL 08 to see which game really was the better game. This week Soistman takes a look at the features in ESPN NFL 2k5 vs. Madden NFL 08 Part One.

Quote:
"How Does ESPN NFL 2K5 Compare To The “Other” Football Video Game?

On OperationSports and MaddenMania there was a “March Madness” type bracket made up of 64 sports video games which were voted by members as the best sports video games of all time. This tournament yielded ESPN NFL2K5 the winner with a majority of votes. The past years, it has been common knowledge that this game was a great accomplishment in football gaming when released, and some say it has yet to be surpassed by the newer versions of certain football games. With the news that 2K would not be continuing its critically acclaimed College Hoops series this year the onus is now on EA to ensure that March Madness steps up to the plate. Will Soistman checks in today with an article called "Fixing the March Madness Series".

Quote:
"Even ****** back to the last generation of systems the March Madness series has definitely not been up to the level of the competition that has been presented. So hoping for a stellar outing next season may be asking for a lot, but why not hope for the best?"
