Tiburon can we get an Assist?
Posted on January 8, 2009 at 03:43 PM.
It's widely know that EA's Tiburon studio is offensive minded even though arguably its most successful year producing its football line was in 2005 when Ray Lewis was on the cover of Madden and the defense finally got its due. The on field defensive aspects of the current generation games are obviously still under construction, but it appears that once again the good folks at Tiburon are going to leave defensive minded fans holding the bucket on tracking assisted tackles. It seems like it would have been possible for Tiburon to link the gang tackle animation to a statistical category that tracks assists, but no such luck. Oh well, I guess there's always next year. Or at least that is what the folks at EA want us to think when sink another $60 or $80 on each game in July and August of 2009.

I think APF had 1/2 sacks and assists. Hopefully EA adds that soon.

As for Madden '05, I felt the defensive play in that game was boring although the lack of presentation hurt. The DL moves were still poor and I liked Madden '03 better.

I'm hoping to see a return of defense and clock management in Madden 2010. Half sacks and Assists are in All Pro and should be in Madden too. There are a lot of guys in the real NFL that make a good living being there for the final takedown on a tackle.

I would agree that there are other things I would work on first, but for EA to say that they don't have the time is something that makes me cringe. They've had two decades.

EA Is Just Flat Out Lazy...It's Like They Sit In A Room And Say Hmmmm How Can We Get More Money 4 A Lesser Product...Please PPL Rent It Before You Buy It...I Myself Have Made The Mistake Of Buying It First But Not 4 2010...Clean Up On Aisle Common Sense

A lot of us have been programmed to go out and pick up the new version each year. EA does an excellent job building people up and making them think "this is the year." I think after a horrible start EA is finally showing some improvement with this generation of hardware. It's still sad to see them through everything that works out the window and start over, thus making us all wait for things we already waited for them to include in prior generations a second time.
