2017 Week 7: @ Louisville
Posted on December 24, 2018 at 11:09 PM.
#2 Syracuse (6-0) @ Louisville (1-5)

The Orange continue their tour with a stop in Louisville this week. Despite the vast difference in success this season, Syracuse has struggled to beat Louisville in the past two seasons. Last year, an 18th ranked Syracuse squad lost by three scores at home to the Cardinals, and you can bet that the memory is still in the minds of all of these Syracuse players. The Cardinals have only one win this year, but they boast an offense that should be able to do much more than that if given the opportunity today. Syracuse has been strong on defense in recent weeks but they will get a major test on the road today. The game shouldn't be a blowout but look for the Orange to get a comfortable win and remain perfect.

Prediction: 35-14 Syracuse

While Louisville managed to stay in the game in the first half, they began to stall on offense in the second and eventually fell out of the game. HB Colin Wilson was electric for the Cardinals but their passing game could not do enough damage to help sustain drives through the air when they fell behind. The Orange offense was barely slowed down by the Cardinals as Tommy DeVito accounted for 5 total touchdowns. FR HB Richard Patton continued his marvelous freshman campaign, topping 1000 all-purpose yards for the season, and scoring 3 receiving touchdowns. The offense has too many weapons to guard for an entire game, so defenses can only hope to contain them long enough to give their team a chance. The defense did not force any turnovers today but they held Louisville to 0/7 on third downs and only allowed 17 points to their explosive offense.

Final Score: 38-17 Syracuse
