Syracuse remains at home for a third straight game, this time against lowly Illinois. The defense has been a concern despite holding Oklahoma to only 23 points last week. They gave up nearly 500 yards of offense and have generated little pass rush the first two weeks of the season. SR QB Tommy DeVito is the Heisman front-runner and looks to keep his hot streak going against one of the least successful programs in recent history. Illinois got off to a good start by beating North Texas last week but they will struggle to have the same success against this Syracuse team on the road. Syracuse should put up plenty of points in an easy victory.
Prediction: 42-16 Syracuse

Illinois put up a good fight for three quarters before Syracuse's talent took over. The Fighting Illini shut down the Orange offense, allowing only 16 points through three quarters before a 21-point fourth quarter onslaught. The pass rush finally came alive for Syracuse as they totaled 9 sacks and 4 forced fumbles today. They defended the pass exceptionally allowing under 50% completion percentage, 100 yards passing, zero scores, and an interception. Offensively, SR QB Tommy DeVito once again played at a Heisman level as he threw for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns without turning the ball over a single time. FR HB Richard Patton had his first career 100-yard game rushing while also finding the endzone once. SO WR Matt Archie snagged two scoring tosses and SO WR Jonathan Workman was the go-to target catching 8 passes for 76 yards. Syracuse still has not rounded into top form but are doing what they need to and are sitting at 3-0.
Final Score: 37-13 Syracuse
