2016 Week 12: vs Boston College
Posted on December 1, 2018 at 03:56 AM.
Boston College (9-2) @ Syracuse (7-4)

Rivalry week is upon us and Boston College will travel to Syracuse to play the Orange. Last season, Syracuse embarrassed the Eagles in Boston by a final score of 63-23, so revenge will be on their minds. Considering this is a rivalry game both teams will be motivated Syracuse is coming off back to back wins and will look to continue the hot streak at home. Boston College are coming off an upset loss to 5-6 Indiana that dropped them out of the rankings altogether. The Eagles are paced by Heisman frontrunner HB AJ Dillon who has run for nearly 2000 yards and 23 touchdowns through 11 games. Their team also leads the nation in turnover differential so it's important that Syracuse can hold on to the football today. The Eagles win games by running the ball down the opponents throat and not letting their offense get going with stifling defense. It will be a clash of strategies when these teams meet and whoever can play their game most effectively will be the team to come out on top. The Orange own the #2 pass offense in the country but will be going against the #17 pass defense. Conversely, Boston College's #9 rushing offense will square off against the #1 rushing defense of Syracuse. This game looks like one that Boston College could win but it's risky to count Tommy DeVito out against any defense, no matter the talent level. Syracuse should be able to pull away late and secure a win.

Final Score: 31-21 Syracuse

Heisman contender AJ Dillon was held to just 32 yards on 10 carries without a score. Meanwhile, Tommy DeVito threw for 350 yards and 3 scores while running for another 116 and a score. FR WR Beau Dennis was on the receiving end of two of his scores while SR WR Aaron Noel accounted for 206 yards and the other score. SO HB John Green ran well, amassing 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. The defense turned over Boston College QB Anthony Brown three times, including JR CB Ross Davis' fifth interception of the season. SO LB Tyrell Richards had a big day with 7 tackles, 4 for loss, and 2 sacks. The team did not have to punt a single time and was solid all around, building momentum for their bowl game.

Final Score: 48-21 Syracuse
