2016 Week 11: @ Virginia
Posted on November 29, 2018 at 07:39 PM.
Syracuse (6-4) @ Virginia (4-6)

The Orange travel to Charlottesville to take on the Cavaliers. Syracuse is coming off a dominant win over ACC bottom-dweller Indiana. Virginia have been regulars near the bottom of the standings as well in recent years, needing to win out to have a shot at a bowl game this year. The Cavaliers were shut out in Syracuse last year in a 22-0 late-season loss to the Orange. Tommy DeVito is on a hot streak the last two weeks in which he has completed over 70% of his passes, thrown for nearly 800 yards, and has scored 8 touchdowns with only one turnover. Virginia is once again ranked in the bottom 25 in offense so look for the Orange defense to continue riding the momentum and the offense to score a whole lot of points. The Orange should roll.

Prediction: 51-13 Syracuse

Despite winning by 24 the Orange could've won by much more. This team is inconsistent and doesn't always look like the same team playing out there. Tommy DeVito threw a pair of interceptions in the first half and the offense as a whole did not look fully in sync until after halftime. SO HB John Green got the start this week and ran with the opportunity. He ran for 125 yards and touchdown while also leading the team in receptions with 6 for 60 yards. SR WR Aaron Noel continued a hot streak as well as he had 150 yards through the air. The defense gave up yards to Virginia and did not manage a takeaway but they clamped down on the running game all afternoon, allowing 26 yards on 25 carries. SR DE Kingsley Jonathan increased his nation-leading sack total with his third game this season of 4+ sacks. Syracuse improves to 7-4 and now will finish the season with a home game against rival Boston College.

Final Score: 34-10 Syracuse
