2016 Week 4: vs Clemson
Posted on November 24, 2018 at 10:12 PM.
Clemson (1-1) @ Syracuse (2-1)

The Clemson Tigers travel to Syracuse this week, fresh off an upset loss to the Seminoles last week that knocked them out of the rankings. Syracuse's defense might be in for a long day as Hunter Johnson leads a dynamic Clemson offense that ranks third in yards per game. Tommy DeVito will need to have a great game to win because Clemson can score a lot of points themselves, and it will be hard to run against that fearsome front seven.

Prediction: 38-24 Clemson

The Clemson defense proved too much for Tommy DeVito and the Syracuse offense. The Orange turned it over 4 times and only managed 21 points against a stout Clemson front. Clemson QB Hunter Johnson had no trouble moving the ball meanwhile as Clemson racked up first down after first down on Syracuse. The game looked like it could get out of hand early with Clemson jumping out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. Syracuse followed with a 21-3 run however and looked to be in control entering the fourth quarter. The final frame saw Clemson flex its muscles as it finished the game on another 14-0 run and clamped down on the Orange. Tommy DeVito had a good game throwing for nearly 300 yards and two scores, but needs to be more careful with the football if he wants to take that next step. Markenzy Pierre struggled to get going against the Clemson defense and was phased out of the gameplan down the stretch due to the defecit. WR Aaron Noel had another big day and continues to be a reliable target for this passing offense. DE Kingsley Jonathan had a big day again and has been on a crazy hot streak recently. CB Ross Davis had yet another interception on the day, bringing his season total to 3. Syracuse drops to 2-2 on the year and will need to figure out a way to win games and more importantly, protect the football.

Final Score: 31-21 Clemson
