Syracuse travels to MetLife Stadium for their rivalry game with the Fighting Irish. Last season Syracuse flexed their muscles in a 30-17 home win over the Fighting Irish. Syracuse is coming off a rough game versus TCU in which they allowed 31 second half points in an eventual 41-34 loss. They have a chance to win this game if they clean up the mistakes and shore up the defense some but the odds seem to be in Notre Dame's favor here.
Prediction: 31-27 Notre Dame

Syracuse played as close to a perfect game as possible today on their way to a hard-fought 31-28 win over the Fighting Irish in MetLife Stadium. The Syracuse offense did not turn the ball over a single time or commit a single penalty en route to the victory. Tommy DeVito was surgical throwing for 280 yards and a touchdown while rushing for two more. Backup QB Rex Culpepper came in to throw a 1-yard touchdown pass on his only attempt when DeVito exited a drive with an injury. This allowed DeVito to keep up a strange streak this season where all four of his touchdown passes to this point have come from 40+ yards out. SR HB Markenzy Pierre ran for 100 yards in his first career start and also added 36 yards on 3 catches out of the backfield. As good as this win was, it took a flawless day on offense and a lot of momentum to upset a mediocre Notre Dame team, meaning Syracuse might struggle to win games against good opponents all year. The defense held Notre Dame scoreless during a 31-0 Syracuse run that all but decided the game. The Orange move to 1-1 on the season following this win and will celebrate their home opener next Saturday in Syracuse.
Final Score: 31-28 Syracuse
