Syracuse Orange (0-0, 0-0 Away) | TCU Horned Frogs (0-0, 0-0 Home) | |
The Orange open the new season with a trip to Fort Worth to take on the Horned Frogs. Last season the Orange made a furious comeback in Fort Worth to take a two score lead with less than 5 minutes remaining. They then proceeded to blow the lead and lost the game 39-31. This year's team is young and unproven on defense and at running back, with new starters across the board. The offense will rely heavily on the passing game led by JR QB Tommy DeVito, SR WR Aaron Noel, SR TE Aaron Hackett, and exciting true FR WR Beau Dennis. That being said the Horned Frogs are a high powered offense and that could be too much for a new defense to handle.
Prediction: 41-30 TCU

This game was a wild one. Tommy DeVito threw for 400 yards and 3 scores while running for 1 more, but also threw 3 interceptions which contributed to the loss. The competition at running back was all but settled after Markenzy Pierre had a strong performance in the second half to seize the job. Aaron Noel, Allen Rawlins, and Matt Archie were all effective weapons in the passing game with each of them breaking off a touchdown reception of 40+ yards. The defense was gashed for much of the game by TCU on the ground and through the air as the Horned Frogs had no problems scoring points. FR MLB Pete Coleman recorded an interception and a team high 7 tackles to win his position battle. This game was back and forth and about as sloppy as you would expect a week one game to be. Next week the Orange travel to MetLife Stadium as they will take on Notre Dame in a neutral site venue.
Final Score: 41-34 TCU
