This game looked as if it would Syracuse's biggest test of the season in the pre-season but by now it looks to be a game that they can handle. However the talent on Notre Dame's roster is still there so Syracuse could struggle here. That being said Notre Dame is one of the only teams to be giving up over 200 yards rushing and passing per game so it will be on the Syracuse offense to score enough points to carry them to victory. The last two games Syracuse has had trouble finishing drives with touchdowns and if they settle for field goals today they could be quickly outscored by the Fighting Irish making big plays with their dynamic athletes. Playing at home on senior night against a hurting team should be enough to help the Orange notch win number 7 on the year.

This game was not the offensive fireworks show that I had imagined it would be. Instead the game took a 7-3 score into halftime and was controlled by Syracuse in the second half. The turning point of this game was when Syracuse got the ball back with a 13-10 lead in the third quarter. They threw a pick and gifted Notre Dame great field position with a chance to tie or take the lead. Syracuse's defense responded to the challenge and sacked Avery Jones on three straight plays, forcing the Fighting Irish out of field goal range. Syracuse scored a touchdown the ensuing drive and never gave up a two score advantage the rest of the game. Tommy DeVito played very well once again, accounting for all 4 scores from the Syracuse offense. Tyrone Perkins was absolutely bottled up all game, but some of the blame falls on his line as well because they had trouble blocking today. Devin Butler, Sean Riley, and Aaron Noel all had nice outings for this receiving core. The defense flustered Notre Dame greatly and the pass rush was responsible for 7 sacks on the afternoon. Notre Dame must have been thin on the offensive line because they had a backup tight end starting at center today. SR DT McKinley Williams feasted against the tight end blocking him and ended the day with 2 sacks, but also freed up one-on-one matchups for SR DE Josh Black, who finished with 3 sacks.
