Syracuse Orange (2-2, 1-1 Away) | Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-1, 2-0 Home) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Syracuse enters this game with 4 injured offensive lineman, including the entire right side of their line. They have had to shuffle offensive line pieces all season and it could be the cause of some of their rushing woes this year. Rutgers have wins over two weak opponents and a blowout loss to their only competent foe of the year in Nebraska. Syracuse should be able to handle a weak passing offense and shut them down. Tommy DeVito looks to bounce back from a rough performance last week in which he was largely to blame for the loss with his late mistakes. Look for Syracuse to coast to a comfortable road victory before heading into the heart of conference play.

This game was Syracuse domination. Rutgers managed under 200 yards of total offense and was shut down for the entire game. Syracuse took the opening drive and marched it right down for an early touchdown but Rutgers looked ready to strike right back. They marched down inside the Orange 10-yard line but went for it on a 4th-and-1 and were stopped. That set the tone for the rest of the game as Rutgers would have only one more drive even reach the Syracuse side of the 50. Tommy DeVito was deadly efficient, throwing for nearly 300 yards and 2 touchdowns and running for 2 more. Tyrone Perkins ran for 86 yards and a score and added a couple catches for 23 more yards. Aaron Hackett had his best game of the season while also catching his first touchdown. The defense had their best game of the season and backup corner Ross Davis got his first career pick in garbage time. Syracuse once again move over the .500 mark on the season but are still searching for their first ACC win of 2015.
