This game features the old power of the Sun Belt versus one of the up-and-comers. Arkansas State features an elite defense, giving up only 13 points per game, and very strong running attack led by QB Justice Hansen. Last season Georgia State visited Arkansas State and came away with a shootout victory behind 247 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns from WR Penny Hart. Arkansas State was suffering an unexpected down year last season however and look to avenge that loss here today. Again, Georgia State is tough to bet against at home due to their perfect 8-0 record in the dome under Coach Bays.

Georgia State dominated this game from start to finish, especially their defense which pitched an impressive shutout for three and a half quarters before giving up a touchdown in garbage time. The turning point of the game was when Arkansas State was down 14-0 in the second quarter, but threatening from inside the redzone of Georgia State. QB Justice Hansen dropped back on 3rd & 18 but forced a pass that was intercepted in the endzone by SS Remy Lazarus. The Panthers converted a 3rd & long of their own on their way to a late touchdown drive that gave them a commanding 21-0 halftime lead. The defense forced 3 interceptions by Hansen who looked rattled all day, often taking off and running for short gains and absorbing too many big hits. Winchester had another sterling day throwing and running the ball and Taz Bateman once again had over 100 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tamir Jones has bounced back from a rough week at LSU the past two weeks and has been the big play threat this passing game needed. The next three teams on the Panther's schedule are well below .500 so they expect to head into West Point 8-2 in December.
