By now there have been hundreds of impressions written, but I still feel compelled to say that the gameplay in 2k12 is so vastly different from 2k11 that I can't even comprehend it yet. My expectations were that we were going to see a small change in graphics and a decent change in gameplay mechanics but the gameplay has been refined in what seems to be major.
What I saw in the demo was a cpu opponent who rarely did the same thing twice and made very smart contextual decisions. I was amazed by its ability to draw fouls and get open shots consistently. When Eddie house did a perfect spin move then pushed the ball forward leaving Jason Kidd wondering what happened, I knew I was playing a special game.
On offense I am having to relearn how to handle rock so I am having difficulty getting in my flow but even without play callingthe offense is in many ways has shown a vast impovement. The majority of improvement comes down to a few things: movement, collisions and smart animations. 2k improved the things that matter the most. Your player feels like more in control, and when you get a step on your opponent you really can take advantage. Keeping in mind that I have not played the game game for real until I get the full product and can crank up early difficulty, but judging from my experience with last year's demo and full game (I thought the retail version was much better than demo unlike some people) this demo is better than 2k11's but just as revolutionary. I think 2k hit the jackpot on this one.

I agree. I have had a long and tough learning curve in the paint, but I hope it comes back together. I've got one move that will work pretty well, but I'm missing a lot of layups. I hope that will come with time and I'll get more confident.

Good thoughts. I wish everyone could see what a lot of people are saying--that this is indeed an early build and there is nothing to worry about--2K, as you said, hit the jackpot on this one.

I cant get enough of the Demo; it has me wondering where i can get this game EARLY! The demo controls are tight, and on point this year (IMO). The graphics are crisp and neat, and the gameplay is really fluid. I havent seen one herky jerky moment yet. We should all know by now that 2K will give us a striped down version of the game, just to keep our mouths wet; for two more weeks, as it worked for the companies marketing for the last three years. This little nuggget of gameplay sure has made me thristy and wanting more info on an already hyped up game.
cheers

I too am very impressed by the demo and how the game has improved. It's like the same foundation but improved gameplay, and the improvements are sensible and tolerable. The movement is life like and the A.I is much smarter than 2K11. I can't wait till 10-4-11.
