Madden 13 Cover Vote - Odds for Players To Win!
Posted on March 5, 2012 at 06:35 PM.
EA Sports is once again holding a fan vote to select a cover athlete for Madden NFL 13! This year the field moves to 64 players with 2 from each team getting selected. As the candidates get announced, ZFarls from MaddenTips.com looks to see who is the favorite to take down the cover and look to break the curse!

The Favorite-

Tim Tebow 7/5 – Tebow won Madden Bowl for #TeamClutch and also was on NCAA Football 11 cover. His Florida ties make him a good chance, oh yeah and he is the most popular and hated player in the NFL all at the same time! Gotta love his chances to win!

The Challengers –

Cam Newton- 6-1 This rookie took the NFL by storm with his gaudy numbers including rushing TD’s. Will he get enough support from Carolina who is a relatively new fan base compared to Green Bay or Dallas?

Rob Gronkowski 8-1 – In Madden 12 Cover Vote, RB Danny Woodhead made a nice run and he is nowhere near as popular as Gronk and his famous Spike have become! Imagine if he had caught that Hail Mary at the end of Superbowl 46 or had been healthy? Wow!

Mike Vick 7-1 – The man is another polarizing figure, he made it all the way to the finals of last years vote as well. Now, he didn’t have as good of a season and got injured after his 2004, cover, but you have to like his chances!

Victor Cruz 5-1 (Best Sleeper Chance) – The Salsa, the story, the underdog, the SB Win and TD. Why not keep the dream alive for the Umass kid who was 2nd in the NFL in receiving yards? With Manningham leaving, his role will continue to grow and with Eli Manning voters getting behind him, who knows?

If Aaron Rodgers is selected from Green Bay, there is a spot for him on this list!

Drew Brees – 11-1 – He did set the passing record and won Madden Bowl with Team Clutch, but his recent cover for Madden 11 and Saints current negative spotlight make him a second tier candidate. He did an awesome job repping the game on his 2011 Cover though and would make a great repeat candidate!

The Longshots -

Raiders with Shane Lechler and Sebastian Janikowski (150-1) also Blaine Gabbert of the Jaguars (200-1). The Special Teamers of the Oakland Raiders are very talented and both 98-99 in the game, however it was surprising to see two former EA Cover Guys in Carson Palmer and Darren McFadden passed up in their favor. Blaine Gabbert it the second candidate behind MJD on one of the least popular NFL Teams!
Josh Freeman is another guy who last year might have one a round or two, but will have a hard time this season.

Other Players in the mix…
Miami Dolphins: Reggie Bush versus Brandon Marshall (20-1) The former NCAA cover boy could have a chance if he was still in the spotlight, but even after a great rushing season, he won’t sneak on.
New York Jets: Mark Sanchez versus Darrelle Revis (25-1) After the Jets collapse, most NFL Fans have had enough talk of the Jets. Sanchez isn’t 100% locked into the QB Role, so I doubt he makes it on.
New England Patriots: Wes Welker versus Rob Gronkowski
Buffalo Bills: Stevie Johnson versus Ryan Fitzpatrick (30-1) Johnson is fairly popular but he Bills don’t have the buzz. Maybe Fitzpatrick uses the Harvard roots to get Jeremy Lin’s buzz?
Denver Broncos: Tim Tebow versus Von Miller
Kansas City Chiefs: Dwayne Bowe versus Derrick Johnson (35-1) Chiefs had a better shot last season and with Charles but he hurt his knee unfortunately.
Oakland Raiders: Shane Lechler versus Sebastian Janikowski
San Diego Chargers: Philip Rivers versus Antonio Gates 24-1 – I talked to Gates at Madden Bowl and he seems to love the game. He is starting to slide from his true prime so this could be his last shot. It would have been great if the Chargers had made the post season last year.
Arizona Cardinals: Larry Fitzgerald versus Patrick Peterson 20-1 – Fitz was on the Madden 10 Cover and is a great rep for the game, but lacks the buzz surrounding his playoff run from a few seasons ago.
San Francisco 49ers: Patrick Willis versus Vernon Davis 17-1 (If the 49ers had been in the Super Bowl, Willis would be in the Favorites category)
St. Louis Rams: Brandon Lloyd versus Chris Long (100-1) Rams aren’t a popular team
Seattle Seahawks: Marshawn Lynch versus Earl Thomas (25-1) Beast Mode resigns with the Hawks, but his biggest chance would have been after the Saints run in the playoffs.
Dallas Cowboys: DeMarcus Ware versus Jason Witten (12-1) Huge Fanbase, but would Romo or Murray had a better shot? Ware is awesome but it would have been better off a record setting season.
New York Giants: Victor Cruz versus Jason Pierre-Paul (7-1)
Philadelphia Eagles: LeSean McCoy versus Michael Vick (7-1)
Washington Redskins: Ryan Kerrigan versus Brian Orakpo 50-1 (Nothing against Geico, but there is no shot here)
Cleveland Browns: Joe Haden and Joe Thomas (50/1) (They can’t possibly win another vote and would they want to after the curse struck Hillis?)
