Why is it that players, coaches, and owners can switch teams and nobody cares but if a fan switches, it's a betrayal? Zlatan Ibrahimovic played for Juventus, Inter, and Milan and nobody complained even though those clubs hate each other. Mo Johnson played for both the Old Firm teams and that's the biggest rivalry in the U.K. RVP played for Arsenal and then switched to United. Ronaldo played for Barca and Madrid.
I don't see anyone saying these are terrible people or anything for playing for rivals. So if you can forgive a player or a manager then why is it so bad for a fan to switch?
I followed Arsenal for a long time but when I started watching more games then just the nationally broadcasted ones I didn't like the team at all. I decided to stick around and see if not winning trophies would make Arsenal rethink their strategy and how they handle transfers but now that the team won something there's no hope of change. Why would they change when they just won the Cup?
But the point is, if everyone here had their way I would still be rooting for a team that I don't like watching, has personnel and staff I don't like, won't spend enough to get the players they need to win, and has no proper owner.(I looked it up and Arsenal is owned by a group without a billionaire owning the majority of the club.)
What I really want to know is why there's some unwritten rule that you can never switch teams even if you don't actually like the team you previously supported.

You can do whatever you want. Whether it's frowned upon or not is another thing. Root for who you want to root for, have fun!
