Washington Redskins at Chicago Bears

Bears falter in the rain as 'Skins win.
The Chicago Bears lost out to the Washington Redskins at a rain swept Soldier Field. The Bears could not establish the run at all as Matt Forte was held to only 9 yards on a dismal day for The Bears. Opposite number Clinton Portis passed 10,000 career rushing yards in the game, but it was another veteran, Santa Moss, who won the game as he caught 3 TD's, including the 50th of his illustrious career.
Chicago started the better of the two teams as the stretched out to a 13-0 lead, two Robbie Gould FG's and then Cutler found Hester from 3yds for the first of his two TD's. It looked like plain sailing for the Bears as their defence had contained the 'Skins to just 56yds in the first half and claimed two interceptions along the way. After forcing three and out as time ran down, Devin Hester fumbled the punt return allowing Phillip Buchanon to recover and score to make the score 13-7 at the half.
Chicago seemed to have shrugged off the set back as they started the third quarter with a 70yd drive that culminated in another TD for Hester as he clung on to Cutlers lofted pass in the corner. Washington wasted no time as they looked to mount a come back as Donovan McNabb found Rice on the first play of the next drive to score form 65yds as he outpaced The Bears secondary. Rex Grossman returned to Soldier Field when McNabb sat out after a hit from Julius Peppers, and found Moss for his second to make the score 21-20 to The 'Skins.
With no running game to fall back on, Chicago's struggled to control the game in the fourth, although they did retake the lead when Gould chipped over from 21 yards. McNabb had returned to the fray by now and again found Moss on a slanting run converting from 61 yards. The Bears struggled again with the ball, and when Cutler's pas was intercepted the game was over.
The Bears have a bye week next week to recover and regroup before they travel to Buffalo. They will be without the services of TE Greg Olsen who sits out with a groin strain.
