Undead's Blog
All I see on NBA 2K12 is talk about the online mode, my player mode, and the greatest mode, but for me, association mode will always be my source of entertainment. In fact, while it is the only mode that did not receive any significant changes, it is still my favorite mode of the game and the first mode I every try when opening a brand new sports game, the association/franchise/dynasty mode. For those of you who don't find entertainment in association mode, well I've decide to compile a list of 100 things to do in association mode. This will be the first of a series of blog entries which will hopefully garner interest with the NBA 2K12 OS community.
#100 The Repeat & The Rebuilds: Take Dallas Mavericks and do what I do not expect them to do, win the NBA championship once more. You have a great squad to do it with so there's no fret about it being too difficult of a job to complete, furthermore you have one of if not the easiest player to score with from the post who can pretty much get you out of any jam. You wanna play every game in a short span, then dim it down to 14 games, want to take a Rick Carlisle role, then set your coach settings, assemble your team and enter the coach mode. Of course, it won't be easy either, going through the likes of the vengeful San Antonio Spurs, the Los Angeles Lakers and the potential packed Oklahoma City Thunder will take you to your limits... especially if you play on All-Star/Superstar mode and if you're even more daring, Hall of Fame.
Does it end there? Nope, chances are Jason Kidd's will be hanging the old boots which empties your point guard position and while the idea of getting J.J. Barea as the starting point guard, you still have an empty back-up position... and he probably doesn't play as great as in real life and the ref's aren't going to be calling technical fouls when he gets thrown to the ground. Furthermore, chances of a three-peat (if you won the championship last year) have dimmed down, Dirk is a bit older unfortunately, and guys like Terry, Chandler, Marion, Haywood, Butler are all getting older which means it's time to start paving the way for the future. If Steve Nash has yet to retire than getting him and winning a championship with the reuniting of the duo would be nice as well.
Ideally, keeping Dirk is a must even if his progression is going the wrong way. Trading away the likes of Terry, Chandler, Marion, Haywood, Butler would be a good idea to get younger players, get some cap-space, and some picks, to make your season feel more realistic, there are already a bunch of good drafts out there. No need to trade them all away but if you intend on leading Dirk to another championship before he retires then you're best off getting some youth in there. Here are a few goals for you if you start feeling a little aimless in this and need a direction to go. Along with those, a set of rules to follow to make this a little more harder which is what's going to follow all the other things to do.
Comments appreciated. Also, if you do happen to try this out, and want to get some OS community interest, the Basketball dynasty forum is DYING for some 2K12 dynasties and I'll be sure to comment on it. Good luck.

- Win an NBA Championship during the 2011-2012 Season (With Kidd's & Nowtizky)
- Make Dirk win a third (second if you failed the repeat) NBA championship before he retires.
- End a season with the best record.
- Make one of your players win an individual award.
- (If you get far enough) Win an NBA Championship past the Dirk Nowitzky era
- Get Dirk to retire for the Mavericks and make it into the Hall of Fame
- You can never trade away Jason Kidd & Dirk Nowitzky
- Win your first championship with 10 members of the starting roster.
- Get rid of 3 of the following after the first championship; Caron Butler, Shawn Marion, Tyson Chandler, Jason Terry, Brendan Haywood.
- Do your absolute best to keep the following players; Rudy Fernandez, J.J. Barea & Rodrigue Beaubois.

Go ahead, although I personally think getting rid of the future in J.J. & Rudy isn't such a good idea but whatever floats your boat :]

like you, thats the first mode I always use after I get a few quick games under my belt.
I telnd to do fantasy draft from the beginning, and I always draft according to the team's salary cap numbers. That way I wont get stocked up on to many elite players.
I also dont get trade happy.

Great blog, but it's Nowitzki not Nowitzky.
And damn, I've already gotten rid of Roddy B. and Rudy.
