Offense Slows Down, but Defense Doesn't
Kansas 27 - TCU 3
Defensive back Cassius Sendish picks off a pass from Pachall
Lawrence, Kansas -- The high-powered offensive unit of Kansas only managed to put up 27 points this week against TCU, but the defense continued its string of amazing performances as TCU was only able to gain 221 yards of offense and score 3 points. As well, the Kansas D was able to stop TCU from scoring a point on two of its three redzone trips.
"We played collectively as a unit this week, and I think that this game has only given us more confidence as we enter next week's game against Oklahoma," said linebacker Darius Willis, who led the team with 8 tackles, 5 of which were for a loss.
"Since the first week, the defensive secondary has been finding our rhythm. I think we are really clicking on all cylinders now and we've hit our stride entering the biggest part of the season," were the comments of Cassius Sendish.

Jake Heaps is now nearly halfway through the year without an interception
Although they didn't score 40+ points, the offense was still very effective in moving the ball against the TCU defense. After Heaps lost a fumble on the first drive, the offense was able to score on every remaining possession.
It's becoming almost cliche to mention it, but Sims was once again a key role in the offense as he ran for 153 yards. As well, Heaps didn't throw an interception again today as he continues to show that he is one of the best game-managing quarterbacks in the nation.
"We're currently sitting at 5-0 and that's awesome," said Heaps, "but next week is our most challenging game of the year and we're going to have to play better than we did today in order to beat them."

After the win, the Jayhawks move into the top 25 for the first time this year, sitting as the #25 team in the country. They play against Oklahoma next week, which is currently 6-0 and the #6 team in the country. This is the Big 12 game of the week, and it should be very exciting to see who comes out on top.
