Seahawks 27
Vikings 20
Key takeaways
1:Even though it's he first preseason game, I had thought our team played well enough to win. With the new playbooks, learning them will take time. So a not so short leash will be had. As far as playbook learning goes.
2:No idea why Marshawn Lynch racked up 42 carries in the first preseason game and it seemed like they had first team defense out there for most of the game as well. As I had run with 1st team for the 1st half, and 2nd for the 3rd quarter and 3rd string for the 4th. I thought we played well. A lot of tackles were missed in the second half and Seattle was driving the ball easily down the stretch against our depth players but for the most part everything went to plan and it was a great game outcome for us.
3:Position battles are shaping up nicely. No clear winners yet, and they only one to take a step back would be Ponder. He had multiple chances to drive down and score in the fourth, but just couldn't execute. He held the ball for far too long on quick reads and just wasn't really effective. But next week vs the Ravens he will get first team reps so that will show his true ability to challenge for the position.

POS:Current/Competition
QB1:Teddy Bridgewater/Matt Cassel
QB2:M.Cassel/Christian Ponder
RB2:Matt Asiata/Jerick McKinnon
WR1/2:Greg Jennings/Jerome Simpson/Cordarrelle Patterson
RG1:Vladimir Ducasse/Brandon Fusco
CB2:Xavier Rhodes/Derek Cox
SS1:Andrew Sendejo/Jamarca Sanford
Primarily, the battles I'm watching are Both QB spots since I believe in having a good backup, the WR spots since I very rarely use 3 or more WRs so a 2 WR base needs to be the best ones, and the CB 2 spot. A classic veteran vs rookie battle.

HIRING:
*Coach Condon, having no NFL coaching experience let alone any college coaching experience, how do you believe that you are the right man for the job?
+Well I would believe that, that question would come as more of a question for the owner than myself but I'll try and keep our conversations in the hiring process simplified. The owner, Mr. Wilf, believes that the team became too exotic. Why build a passing game around a great RB in Adrian who can't catch? If he is your center stone, why isn't the offense conforming to him. Ziggy has been a great supporter of the gophers football team I volunteer as a scout for. He had noticed that many of the players I had coached at the Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity highschool football team had gone to the gophers and had very well success. So I do believe he wants a hometown coach for a good old fashioned team.
*What kind of offense and defense will you bring to this team?
+The same gameplans I have coached for years. I bring an old school offense filled with split backs and near formations and some full house. No shotgun. Everything is under center. As for defense, I like to run a base cover 2 4-3, with a rarely seen today 4-4 on running downs. Both schemes have a variety of man coverage and blitzes in them to keep defenders guessing. As with the 4-4, you always have 8 in the box, but you could bring any number of people in to blitz. The confusion is never ending. I never understood why it isn't used a lot any more. One more question please.
*How do you expect to succeed in a old school power running game when everything about this game has evolved into a passing league?
+That's exactly why it will work. Nobody has seen these formations in a long time in this league and the players maybe haven't since high school. Confusion wins a lot of games. Just ask the 85 bears and their 46 or Bill Walsh about his quick slinging QBs. Trends come and go. I'm ready for the running revaluation again. It's just a matter of time before we will need to change our game. But hopefully that won't come before a couple of rings. Now if you will excuse me, my wife has a pot roast in the oven that I can smell from here. Thank you.
