Go the etra step ....

Year after year we continue to go to the store and pick up these new sports titles. We play them for hours and hours and then we start to see things that we should not see anymore. And for games like Madden is where the problem begins for me.

I believe about two years ago Madden implemented "running styles" so you had guys like Reggie Bush and TO actually have their own running style which was very nice and something we've been waiting on for years. But then it will be the little things that will continue to let you down that you know they could put into the game. For example ever since the Madden franchise has hit next gen there has been no "chain gang" or different brand of shoe wear. Maybe their is a Rebook rights hook to this.... but I know EA college football has Nike and Adidas, so why cant Madden? Madden is the best and it always will be... just if you're going to put all this time into custom TD celebrations at least have the chain gang on the field.

I was reading a Blog earlier that described his love for the old Tecmo Superbowl. And I was agreeing with how great that game was and thinking why? It has all the little details that we as sports fans enjoy so much. It has cut scenes for: players getting hurt and coming back, winning your division, going to the Superbowl etc. The in-game music changes when you get into the playoffs. And you can feel the difficulty in the game arise come playoff time. Again Madden is without question a great game but the feeling you should recieve after giong through a grueling 16 game schedule does not seem/feel rewarding enough. And I definetlyneed a better playoff atmosphere!! I mean the Superbowl celebration was no longer than 30 sec which to me was inexcuseable.

there is so many other little things when it comes to attention to detail but I'm interested in hearing other opinons...

I know it seems that we all bash Madden for what it lacks but, the game has so much unfilled potential. I agree that they need to take the extra step and deliver to us the gaming population. 2 million copies sold on opening day alone at $60 each should put enough $$ in EA's pockets to deliver the best game ever.

You're right about the fact that Tecmo Bowl did really change things for the playoffs. Different music, Super Bowl Halftime show, big deal at the end of the game. I'm not quite sure how Madden would do it, I mean obviously they tried doing a little something with the extra camera flashes and came up short, but it would be really nice if somehow it felt like a big game.

For that it doesn't seem like there's really a simple solution though, since if they added sideline reporting, or different stuff like that it would be stuff that should be in the regular season too.

I know that with as long as they've been around they should have somethings farther along than they are, that's very true. At the same time last years game took great strides, and listening to them blog about next years games I expect some big strides again. So I think they're finally heading in the right direction, just took too many next gen games for them to finally get going.

As for the shoes, I suppose it'd be nice, but never a detail I'm really looking at much.

Yea I agree... this year the game took great strides and looks like the same. I'm just saying to not forget the little things like chain gangs that should never be left out... The camera flashes I thought were too much and only should be in Superbowl games.
