Live 10 or 2K10: Release Day
Posted on October 6, 2009 at 11:06 AM.
Well this is the final checklist. Funnily enough it didn't come down to just Live 10 vs. 2k10, but Live 10 & FNR4 vs 2K10. Hard to beat. Anyway i'll be picking up Live later today, but this is my pretty final feature checklist.

As for the reviews, I pretty much agree with the scoring breakdowns at IGN, except I would swap 2K & Live's gameplay scores (8.5 & 8.0, respectively) and I would bump Live's Audio from 7.5 to 8.0. The result would be:

2K10 / Live 10
Presentation - 8.5 / 8.5
Graphics - 8.5 / 8.5
Sound - 9.0 / 8.0
Gameplay - 8.0 / 8.5
Lasting Appeal 9.0 / 8.0

Ultimately I came to the conclusion that while I'd prefer 2K's modes and NBA Today to Dynamic Season (and Association to Dynasty, and Online Leagues to Lives... you get the idea), the gameplay in Live is too nice to me and the gameplay in 2K a bit tired. 2K's Commentary and modes blow Live out of the water, but i'm just really feeling Live's style. At the end of the day though, Live & Fight Night for $70 at Best Buy vs. 2K10 for $60 + tax was too hard to pass up. I'm sure i will play 2K10 on the PC where the graphics are even better.

I'll end this with the best Live 10 Mix yet:

I don't think you can really argue the lasting appeal with My Player, Web supported online leagues, and Association. You might be able to argue Audio, as imo 2K has commentary but Live has better Crowd & Soundtrack. PA is up in the air as both are pretty good.

Im going to keep this short and sweet I have both games ever since last week played both equally the same, nba live team and help defense are better but nba 2k10 is just an overall better game looks better players have their own swag better ball physics and when I have a group of people over watching me play both games everyone says the same 2k looks and the players move more like their counterparts . ps: and everyone that comes over knows and watches b-ball

@hutch2355 - I am not seeing this. I ran with the Bulls lasty night and grabbed 11 boards in the first half with Noah, 4 were on the offensive glass.

A big part of getting the boards is shooting when your rebounders are in good position to contend for the ball. Jacking up quick shots or running offenses that bring them to the elbow will decrease this.

Agree with your update I want to love live but I'm just not feeling it. I ended up picking up 2k10 . My biggest problem with live is how no one seems to know how to close out on a shot. Dudes get uncontested jumpers constantly. They're 3 feet in front of there checks always. I'm digging 2k10 but for me the frame rate is ruining the experience. Which is weird cause out of the 10 games I've played it seems only real bad at the AAC. Unfortunatly I only like the raptors so half my season possibly could be a lag fest unless they patch. Here's hoping!

I have both games. So far, I find 2k10 better.
