Slow Start Dooms Hawks
Posted on December 14, 2011 at 08:17 PM.
Slow starts on the road usually don't lead to favorable results. Luckily Corey Crawford is on his game tonight and has kept Winnipeg scoreless despite facing 11 shots, 4 of those being legit scoring chances. The Hawks look tired, not sure why, but they just can't get their forecheck going, and that is a staple under new bench boss Haviland. Hawks will start the 2nd period shorthanded, hopefully they find their game quick because they can't rely on Crawford all night against a potent offensive bunch. We head to the second period scoreless.

The Jets were able to capatalize on a fluky goal early in the 2nd period on the power play and continued the onslaught from there. They are clearly outplaying the Hawks right now, holding a 25 to 12 shot advantage, and a chance advantage as well. Hawks have yet to get into the flow of their game, just nothing going right. The only bright spot is Corey Crawford who has shut the door on the Jets since their goal early in the period. He has looked strong and big in his net, let's see if the rest of the team can now pick him up and reward him with a victory, heading to the third period in Winnipeg it's 1-0 Jets.

Johnny showed up tonight, big hit

Zach Bogosian was able to let go a bomb from the point that found it's way thru a mass of bodies and into the net early in the third giving the Jets a 2-0 lead. No way that Crawford saw it because he stopped everything he saw tonight, he was stellar. With about ten minutes left in the game the Captain made things interesting converting on a beauty of a goal off of his own rebound. Toews kicked the puck out from under Pavelec to his stick and finished off a nice wraparound into an empty net. The Hawks however couldn't do much more after that as Pavelec turned away every chance they had down the stretch, tough loss, but probably deserved that one.
