Golden Bears add four defensive commits

With the latest ranking Cal is now No. 9 in the country at 10-1, with just one regular season game to go against Stanford. The Golden Bears recruiting class is also coming together as four defensive recruits made their pledges following the Colorado game yesterday.

Compton (Calif.) outside linebacker Gabe Robinson is the highest ranked of the new pledges at 85 overall by the 247Composite. Robinson chose Cal over Boise State, Colorado State and Nevada. At 6-foot-7, 234 pounds, could possibly become a down lineman during his time in Berkeley.

"Cal is definitely on the rise," Robinson told TheBearsDen.com. "They are by far my best offer and they have such a great reputation with academics and athletics, so it was an easy choice for me."

Santa Rosa (Calif.) 6-foot-3, 252-pound defensive end Jesse Paul is rated 82 overall by the 247Composite and chose Cal over Fresno State and San Diego State.

"I know the Bears are losing a lot of defensive linemen so I might be able to get on the field as a freshman or sophomore," Paul said.

El Cajon (Calif.) strong safety Will White chose Cal over offers from Arizona, Colorado, San Diego State and Colorado State. White is rated 79 overall by the 247Composite and is a mean, physical safety who is great against the run.

"I was honored when Cal offered me," White said. "It's a team I've always liked and I couldn't be more excited to be a Golden Bear. I'm 100 percent committed."

Covina (Calif.) strong safety Daniel Williams is also rated 79 overall and two stars by the 247Composite and chose Cal over an offer from Nebraska. Williams is notorious for bringing the hat and forcing turnovers. At 6-foot-1, 195-pounds, Williams also could get a look at outside linebacker.

"I visited Nebraska and I really liked it out there, so it was a tough decision," Williams told TheBearsDen.com. "Cal has been recruiting me since I was a sophomore and it's a lot closer to home so my family can come to more of my games."
