Cal picks up major commitment from four-star athlete

The Golden Bears' 9-1 start has caught the attention of several of the top recruits in the Golden State and on Thursday, Cal picked up its biggest commit yet of the 2017 recruiting class when Los Angeles (Calif.) four-star athlete Vince Berg made the call.

"The coaches have been talking about how they are losing quite a few guys and the see me coming in and starting," Berg told TheBearsDen.com.

Berg is rated 93 overall and four stars by the 247Composite and chose Cal over offers from USC, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA and others. He's ranked the No. 38 athlete in the nation and can play both offense and defense.

Last season he caught 32 passes for 592 yards and eight touchdowns and on defense he registered 64 tackles and seven sacks, forced three fumbled, had an interception and blocked two kicks.

"Coaches like how I'm versatile, they said they could see me at safety, linebacker or if I put on some weight I could even move to defensive end," Berg said.
