The Washington defense intercepted Cal quarterback Davis Webb four times as the Huskies got off to an early 14-0 lead before going into halftime up 14-7.

Webb's woes continued after the half and Washington took a 24-14 lead into the fourth quarter. Washington shot itself in the foot when the offense fumbled and Cedric Dozier returned it 57 yards for a Golden Bear touchdown to cut the lead to 21-24.
Cal's defense stood tall and got the ball back for the offense, which fought down to the goal line and couldn't punch it in, so a Noah Beito chip shot forced overtime.
Carlos Strickland hauled in the go-ahead touchdown in the second overtime.
The first overtime resulted in field goals for both teams and in the second overtime Webb found Carlos Strickland on a 6-yard strike for the Bears (8-1, 5-1) to go up 34-27. Washington (5-4, 2-4) couldn't match with a score of their own as the Cal defense forced Jake Browning to throw it away on 4th-and-1 to suffer a heart-breaking loss.
