Defeating Oregon for their fifth consecutive win wasn't the only good thing that happened for Cal over the weekend. Following the game, the Golden Bears also picked up their first commitment for the 2017 class when Vista (Calif.) offensive tackle Wayne Butler pulled the trigger.
"I'm 100 percent committed to Cal," Butler told TheBearsDen.com. "They're really building something special out here and I'm excited to be a part of it."
Butler is rated the No. 24 offensive tackle in the country by the 247Composite, at 89 overall and three-stars, and can play either spot for the Golden Bears. The 6-foot-5, 327-pounder chose Cal over an offer from Washington.
"I like their style of offense, I feel like it fits me well," Butler said.
Butler has a 3.8 GPA and was named second-team all-state as a junior.
