Rookie Justin Anderson during Media Day

Today we have the newest addition to your Dallas Mavericks Justin Anderson.

DE- Justin thanks for taking the time to meet with us today. GM Donnie Nelson spoke about your defensive presence saying "I think that's kind of the calling card he's got right now," on The Afternoon Show with Cowlishaw and Mosley. Would you agree with his statements?

JA- Yeah I would. I'm a firm believer in Defense wins ballgames. You have to score more then the other team but when you have a good defensive base it lowers their points per game and makes it easier to get buckets on the other end.

DE- I know Dallas fans love hearing that! What area of your game are you working on or the team wants you to work on?

JA- This goes back to my last season with Virgina, jumpshots. I am trying to get more consistent. I think it started to pay off last year but now is the time to improve and get better so that its the same form and consistent every time.

DE- Sounds like your a gym rat?

JA- Yeah I am always trying to improve some area of my game.

DE- Awesome! Last Question and then we will let you get back to work. What motivates you?

JA- You know after making a big play or a big stop I love seeing my Teammates smile. It motivates me because I know thats who I am playing for. It can get them going in different ways and that gets the crowd going. I love looking in the stands and seeing smiles and people jumping up and down excited for their team.

The Mavericks look to get back to form and compete for another Larry O'Brien Trophy

Fall is in the air, Playoff Baseball is near, Football is in full swing and that can only mean one thing. Basketball is close! Its been an interesting summer in Dallas to say the least. To compare this off season to any other in recent memory is unfair and unnecessary. Never has a team been riding high to only be kicked in the gut and forced to retool like the Mavs had to. After being teased by the bell of the ball the Mavericks were forced to shift directions and see what was left. Enough negativity though. The Mavs were able to salvage and put together what should be a competitive team in the best conference in the NBA.

Who is new: Deron Williams, Wesley Matthews, Jeremy Evans, Zaza Pachulia, (R) Justin Anderson, JaVale McGee

Who left: Rajon Rondo, Tyson Chandler, Richard Jefferson, Monta Ellis, Al-Farouq Aminu, Amar'e Stoudemire
