My opinion on what some old games could have done to be a little bit better.

First off we will look at Cool Boarders 2

Now this was a fun racing game, but that is all that it was. The tricks were hard to pull off, and you only had about three characters to play with. What they could have done to make it better was to maybe make the tricks like shaun palmer's snowboarding (Which I only played once in a demo but loved), where the flips and spins were all directionally based, and the grabs were button or right stick based (Kind of like how Amped/Amped 2 was). Don't even mention 3 or 2001... Those were disasterbacles!

Next up is 3Xtreme

Now this was a good game in terms of racing and tricks, but they went wrong with graphics, 2xtreme had better graphics... This game was made in 2000, games in 2000 had somewhat realistic body and background graphics... And 989 dropped the ball on that. By the freakin way, I'm still wondering if any of these riders were actual pro's... Can someone tell me?

Next is the somewhat failed incarnation of the Japanese power pro baseball games to America.

(Yeah it's a crap photo, but I didn't want to upload two covers side by side.)
First off the gameplay, I will always say the Japanese games are better because of the gameplay. A guy like Joel Zumaya in the game could not consistently throw near or at his max speed even if he had a pink smile face, while in the Japanese games Yoshinori Sato can throw near his speed with a yellow neutral face.

I also will never know why they had to mess up the AI so much and change the game in general. Stealing in the 07 version was too easy (it was basically a given you would steal a base unless you got picked off). Need I mention the announcing? Whoever this Jack Merluzzi guy is... He was horrible, there could be a whole series of youtube videos given to his announcing botches.

And don't get me started on success mode, why would there be loopholes in the American game when the Japanese games had no save and reload cheats? The fielding sucks, they take L routes to fly balls and make stupid throwing decisions.
So what would be the solution to making the American incarnations of this series better? 2K and Konami need to care more about making it as close as possible to the Japanese versions of the game if they ever decide to make it again, it would have been better that way.
