I'd love to see a 2-year cycle. So many other games get the treatment to stay in production for 3+ years and end up doing so much for their genre. If those sports guys were allowed to really fool with their engines and master the A.I., we wouldn't have as much complaints. I know it'll hurt at first but it would be great. As a matter of fact, I think that both companies could really grab a bigger share of the markets by doing alternating years. That way both titles would be scooped up every other year, maximizing their profits.

If they did that and only did minor updates and add-ons, I'd be thrilled. It's the same kind of concept as having any other game come out every year. It'll eventually get tired because the advances aren't as significant as they could have been if the product would have been keep in house to play around with more.

They could also have a small team on the side that would have various updates they'd want to add to the game to possibly cause the long-term to last longer. They could improve the trading logic of teams to give a more realistic "feel" for the user, they could add unlockable packs to the game to expand the life of the game, they could put in new modes, they could streamline the online better. The 2-year cycle needs to get the green light.

QoTD: 2 year cycle with a major roster update in between. I would even pay $10 or so for the roster update. A lot of the bugs would be gone with a 2-year cycle. Too bad pigs will fly before it ever happens.

2 year

Obviously I would like to see a two-year cycle, but as boom mentioned above it's not going to happen. There is no financial incentive for companies to release a game every other year instead of every year.

Oh, and LOL at the Obama photo. Great stuff.

I would like to see a 2 year cycle with a roster update in the off years. I do not think we will ever see it. Madden is too much of a cash cow for EA to only make every other year.

I don't think I'd like a two-year cycle. I think I'd just crave a new game every year because of what we're used to now.

I'd loooove the 2 year cycle with roster updates. Think of how much better the games would be. Too bad it will never happen...

QOTD: 2 year cycle I think would work. I would like some sort of structure to where after year one passes, the dev makes a DLC for roster updates - perhaps a very minor micro transaction of say 5-10 bucks....and then continue on with the development of the next iteration of the product. As some have posted on here already, this would allow for more depth, in game features being fleshed out completely, gameplay to be solid and bugs thoroughly tested prior to it's final release. I would def. be on board for this - all sports titles.....

A 2 year cycle would definitely be better. Games just seem too rushed in one year cycles. I'm not so sure that we even need roster updates every year with most sports games community support, but if having a $5 - $10 roster update helps push the dev cycle to 2 years, I'm all for it (doesn't mean I need to buy it).

I'd like to have a 2 year cycle. I'm not someone who buys the same sport every year anyways but I'd love to have a roster update and get a better game the following year. For some reason, the only sports games I've ever really bought back to back years are baseball games. I've gotten into a routine where I will get NCAA one year and Madden the next but I'm worn out on the football games as I don't think I've gotten much fun out of them since NCAA 2003.

I would love it but it isn't going to happen. What incentive is there for the gaming companies to push it out to two years? Madden is such a huge cash cow and the fans have shown that it doesn't really matter what they put out.... they will still buy it. Once sales decline, then maybe they would consider the 2 year cycle but I don't see it happening anytime soon.
